Posted 9 months ago Matt from Washington state, I have worked in my career field of Industrial refrigeration for 20 years. My duties include working closely with owners and contractors supervising installations as well as servicing. At 39 years old, I can no longer keep up with my current work pace. I have had a few 100+ hour work weeks, coupled with bent over, crouching, out of position marathons. I am surrounded by ungrateful, money hungry, non-structured, micro managers on one side and find little satisfaction in what I do. As I mature, I realize the need to serve my fellow man, not only for that reason alone, but for myself and my son. I have always been a late bloomer, and now I start my journey to becoming an LEO. I am strong, healthy and active and completely at peace with all my past history. This will be an uphill battle, and I will enjoy every minute of it.
Thanks for having me! |

| Posted 9 months ago One never knows when the calling will come. Do not get fixed on your age thinking you may be to old. I've seen applicants enter the academy in their 50's. Follow your dream and good luck. |

| Posted 9 months ago You're never too old to pursue your dreams. Just before I retired, I hired a first time officer who was 40. I wish I'd had an entire department of Dwaynes. He was not afraid to ask a question for fear of being looked at as "dumb". He was focused, made wise decisions, and a joy to work with. If I had it to do over again, I would..........in a heartbeat. Best of luck to you from southeastern PA as you follow your dream. |

| Posted 9 months ago Welcome to PL from NC and glad you have found your calling; to become a LEO. One of the hardest things in life to accomplish is figuring out what you have a passion for career-wise, in my opinion. It doesn't matter how old you are, as long as you figured that out. Congratulations! :) I wish you the best of luck in this new endeavor as you move ahead in the process. There are so many great and knowledgeable people on this Site... I think you will really like it here. Enjoy! :) "Government's first duty is to protect the people, not run their lives." - Ronald Reagan
