Why did you become an officer?

I got into it for the long hours, low pay, and the opportunity to be swore at, spit on, shot at, and sh!it on! Oh, and don't forget, the pleasure of dealing with a grateful public!

So I could drive real real fast and hit people with my flashlight. This sure seems to be a topic many times.

You wouldn't be afraid of his flashlight?

People are going to hate you behind your back anyway. At least this way I can give them a good reason!

Ahem, to help my fellow Americans to strive to be the best they can be and to assist little ladies across the street even if they don't wanna go. Oh and to drive fast and shoot guns. hehehe

After the past couple months of being shorthanded and overworked, I am asking myself the same question.

I actually thought that the World wanted to be saved. Imagine that..  It took 17 years, Shot knees, two ex-wives, 3 ex-kids, PTSD, and an all around bad attitude towards the General Public of the species to realize I might have been a little mistaken..  I wouldn't tade one minute of it for the world.  Except the ex-kids....

You forgot flog punks with a flashlight lol.

Lead by example... I like that.

Funny how the only enumerated right that contains the phrase "shall not be infringed" suffers the heaviest regulation. I'm still trying to find where it says anything about hunting and targets.

I ran out of clean shirts so I joined. That and the $20.00 signing bonus and I was all set.

I went through all that training, being pepper sprayed, Tased, all that running, push-ups, etc. so I could get a discount on food when I go to restaurants in uniform.

It became a family tradition. I think it was somewhere in the DNA because all of the males in my family are cops or retired as cops, except one and he was career military. I got my start in the military as an Engineer and then MP. I served as an MP for so long that I realized that I can take the training and experience and use it in the civilian world.

I was career military both Active and Reserve and after active duty became a cop in my home state. I have yet to see what my child will do. My brother is LEO and my wife is retired LEO, FF and now a medico legal investigator, so you never leave the blue, once your in. Up to now it has become a kind of family tradition.
