Tonight is a very sad night for the community of Robeson County in North Carolina. Officer Goodson worked for Lumberton Police Department, an agency right next door to my agency. He was a good friend of ours, my best friend who is now a trooper trained him back when he was a rookie, another good friend of mine also trained him to be a gang officer. I met him briefy at a training class while at school. He was loved dearly by his community, and some of the information provided is incorrect. Officer Goodson was in a car with his pregnant wife, (who is due this week) also with their minor child when and was off duty. He and his family pulled into a gas station and he recognized a suspect who was wanted for murder. Officer Goodson notified on duty officers who arrived immediately. Once they arrived, Officer Goodson got out of his car and began walking towards the store when the suspect shot him several times in the back. Officer Goodsons wife was today reported as being in labor from the stress however was just released from the hospital several hours earlier and is okay and not in labor as of yet. Please pray for our community and the Goodson family. Remember HEROES LIVE FOREVER........May God bless Jeremiah and his beloved surviving family.

My condolences to his family, his Blue family  and his friends.   When I read your post I had to cry to think about his dear wife who was there to witness this.   All will be in my prayers.

I appreciate both of your comments and prayers. Today is the wake for Jeremiah which will begin this afternoon. Tomorrow is the funeral. Keep praying for his family; hiw wife and his child and unborn baby. This past week has been very sad and very difficult in our community.
