Posted 11 months ago For anyone who would like to talk about the similarities and differences between the two jobs. Working on the streets and working in a facility. "People sleep peacefully in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf. " |

| Posted 11 months ago It requires a lot of awareness, patience, nerves , intelligence and the ability to deal with that can range from paperwork and inmate complaints to murder! You have to be able to sense when something isnt right in hope that you'll be ready for whatever it may be. To be able to endeaur boredom then at the last second repond to a call without knowing a lot about the details until you arrive on scene. Then be able to contain the sutuation as quickly and peacefully as possible. Of course thats not always the case, and you may be faced with a situation that requires force, which may mean anything from a scuffle to restrain, less lethal tactics such as OC spray, taser, flash bang, etc.. to lethal tactics, such a shooting the suspect in some cases. There's a lot more to it, you can read or get opinions from both Street and Detention/Correction Officers. | Posted 11 months ago I hate jail. I can spend 30 minutes in central booking and I am chafing to get out. Although I know arresting people is a necessity I hate to see people like caged animals. |
