Posted 11 months ago I'm currently in an application process for my local agency. I've passed my agility and written test, along with my background check and polygraph and am currently waiting on a call for my interview with the board. I had a few questions on how the board may view certain qualifications. I hold a 1st degree black belt in tae kwon do and a blue belt in Armenian jiu jitsu. I have 4 years of JROTC experience from high school where I held several leadership positions. I have also earned my Associates degree in Criminal Justice. Would senior officers look favorably on these qualities or would they not care one way or the other? I've been told by some that these are excellent and would impress and some have said that they wouldn't really play a huge role. I'm curious what this community thinks. |

| Posted 11 months ago Ok, let's take a look at your packet: 1. Martial arts. Of little value. 2. JROTC: Good stuff. 3. An A.A. is good. A B.A. is better. Down and dirty: No one cares about your resume. They care that you do cop work well. Reports, arrests, listening to FTO's, having a teachable personality and demonstrating maturity in certain areas of your life, specificially booze, babes and bills. If your life is pathetic in these areas, seek employment elsewhere. |
