What is the object?

iLove. You know I'm in iLove. iLove her.

My girlfriend's name starts with an i. Shines bright like stars in the sky. She stays by my side, in the dark..she's the light. She befriends many and we get lost in her eyes...Staring at her instead of watching our steps. Run to her when we wake without catching our breath. (Know what it is yet?)

She's addicting. The truth? We're fiends. But we ain't sniffin' glue, we're just glued to the screen. She rules us. You see the proof when she rings, we'll probably take two of her over two human beings. Her sisters? Some bigger, some smaller. Sync up with her daily to keep her in order. Get her when she drops, even if we can't afford her. Ask me if I really need her. I be like...sorta. But when I seen her at the mall, I had to court her. I keep her in accessories..yeah ya boy do spoil her. I want her in my life I'll do anything for her. Forget about a dime. boy she's more like a quarter. With her all the time, it ain't nobody cooler. See her getting jealous and I don't wanna lose her. So instead of spending time with others, she only lets me talk when I talk through her. (Know what it is yet?)

I don't have a iphone nor internet access on it either and dthe only reason I have texting is because my X pays for the phone and has it on there.   I wouldn't mind having my flip phone back.

I don't have an iphone but I do have a smart phone.  I hate it.  I have to keep it on 24/7 because my little sister has MS and may call.  I don't mind that.  My gripe is in the form of a question:

Have you ever noticed that when someone texts you for a favor, it is spelled out nicely such as: "Can you pick up the kids at school today and keep them until I get finished with my ....?"  THEN, when you agree, this is all you get: "Ty. Ly."  I just hate that!  If you can take 2-3 pages to give me details on the favor you want, then take the time to type out "Thank you. Love you."

Does that make sense to anyone else?

Ha ha ha ha ha ha!!  I figure there will be quite a few!  I actually had a Bible app on my phone, but I didn't care much for it.  They come in very handy when you are having a conversation and need a verse that you can't remember.

@ batgirl.  Thank you.  I know you can do a lot but I don't want to learn anything new.   I have a smart phone and it is on the easy mode.   I'll leave all the complicate stuff to you youngens.

I don't have a Bible app on my phone, the reason being that the print is so darned small that those of us whose eyes are no longer young can't always make the print large enough to read it. I DO have the local contemporary Christian radio station downloaded, and that's what I listen to when I do my daily two mile walk. It's great to be able to fill my mind with positiive and uplifting music as I walk.

OMG that was so funny.  Your only 31 and it would be nice to be young again.   Wait untill you have more years behind you than in front of you and then say that.   If you feel like that now wait till you twice that age.

My spouse and I just bought each other new phones.Neither one of us opted for a smart phone.QUESTION?Are smart phones sold only to smart individuals ,OR are they on the market fror those who wish to become smart?Do the major manufacturers assume that we are all smart enough for a smart phone or do they only wish we were?I am aquainted with a number of smart phone owners who have difficulty tieing their own shoes.

Dave those are some pretty thought provoking questions your asking.   I'm not sure I feel any smarter since I got my smart phone.  And my spelling hasn't gotten any better that's for sure.    Maybe you should start a thread and put a survey in it to find out if people really feel any smarter with a smart phone.

Dave,

I don't think it is the phone that turns these people into idiots, if that's what you're asking. :)

I think the "smartphone" is especially helpful to these people, though. Think of it this way: their phone HAS to be smart. In some respects, "smartphone" is marketspeak for "idiot proof".

I must come clean.Actually I am at the age where newer technology baffles me.It is a tad freightning to discover a phone has a higher learning curve than I

There's no shame in that, Dave--but I would say that I really doubt the problem is your age. I think the problem is that you haven't found the right time or the right person to give you an "Intro for Luddites"--someone who can really be the Rosetta Stone for you and technology. Those people are out there--keep looking.

Also--the newest trend in smartphones is that they are getting bigger. A bigger screen can help with comprehension, old man. ;)

Oh my gosh Dave!  That was stinkin' hilarious!!  But I honestly don't think it's your age.  Some people just don't function in sync with smartphones.  I hated mine (still do some days) but I have to have it, so I've tried to make the best of it.  I know a man who simply could NOT get the hang of his smart phone (He's pushing 60 yrs old.), but when he got a different type, it seemed to 'flow.'  It may just depend on the type you use.

Some people don't know this, but the term "smartphone" is usually used in reference to a phone with computer capabilities such as composing documents, presentations, internet, etc.  I like what mz66 said "idiot proof."  The only problem with that is that I know entirely too many idiots with smartphones.  And they are no better off!  :)
