I have a interview for a jailer in North East TX. I'm a little nervous about this and not really sure what to wear to the interview. What would y'all suggest?

Remember to breathe, be yourself and think before answering the questions.

How's that HOPE and CHANGE working out for you?

What would you do for a Klondike bar?

Don't be nervious, take it from somone who has been through a ton of interviews. Just be calm and cool, relax and breath. Dress very nicely, but modest. Business atire would be best. Also check out the Become a COP section above, its got a lot more information for you. Good Luck!

You wouldn't go in there for a million bucks...A Cop does it for less...A Reserve does it for free....

Business attire / dress / dark and conservative.  Remember this is a job interview and not the Friday or Saturday night hot spot / pick'em up spot.

BUMP! I wish I had a dollar for interview I went to that more than one person showed up in like they just got out of bed or they were going to the beach, I'd be a millionaire!

Watch showing to much cleveage. Trust me I have interviewed females that showed way to much. Business attire is the best. Also do not reek of perfume. The same lady I described reeked so much I had to wonder how many laps she swam in her perfume.

I really can't add anything to what the others here have told you.  Remember to breathe and relax.

Coat and tie. Haircut, shave. Trim nails. Be yourself. Don't ramble. Give concise answers to questions. When asked a question don't jump in without thinking. Take 2 seconds to formulate your answer then articulate it.

I knew exactly what I was saying. A lot of depts. require uniform shirts and ties, even for  female officers. Showing up at an interview attired as such may just help.

But will say this, I would never apply to another department in my current department's uniform.  Career dress is appropriate and if you are female a nice suit (pants or skirt without the tie) is perfectly appropriate.  Just remember shoes count... a nice medium heeled pump does the job.  Google "dressing for an interview" will give you all the information you need.

Goog luck to you!

Good Luck!

I'm curious, do women have dress shoes that they could polish? Probably not.... I just know I always feel better walking into an interview with bright shining shoes.

Guess I'm not much help. :)

Make sure to maintain good eye contact, especially when giving answers to questions. Be mindful of your body language, too. A good interviewer will pick up on hidden cues based on your nonverbal communication. Stay cpmfprtable but don't slouch. Keep your body straight but not stiff. A firm handshake when you enter the room and prior to leaving will be appropriate also.

That's the least of their problems. Most challenging part will be picking out which pair of black shoes go with what outfit (this is after they've changed out several outfits already).
