| Posted 12 months ago I've been testing the level of 9-volt batteries on my tongue since I was 10, but with much less spectacular results than Buckaroo Banzai up there. ... also while visiting friends in Indiana, the local farm kids thought it would be fun to form a chain and then grab ahold of the bare wire keeping the cows in pasture. 'splains a lot, don't it? Bessie Braddock: “Sir, you are drunk.” Churchill: “Madam, you are ugly. In the morning, I shall be sober.” |

| Posted 12 months ago Street vendors used to come into Hussong's rowdy Long Bar in Ensenada in Baja with a popular device. They used it to make a fair piece of change charging drunken gringos fifty cents to hold onto a couple of metal rods while they cranked up a box that sent a massive charge ripping through the gringos' bodies. Amazing how many takers there were. All night long 'til the crack o' dawn. Any night of the week. They would walk up to your table and slam down small wooden-bead animals with rude parts that bobbed up and down with a life of their own. I always wondered about the guy whose job it was to sit in the alley, catch flies and stuff them into holes of small pink piggies then stuff cork noses in the holes so the flies could crawl around and make the curly tails wiggle. How many flies did he have to catch to make a profit?

And some still never learn :o) Above all, we must realize that no arsenal, or no weapon in the arsenals of the world, is so formidable as the will and moral courage of free men and women. It is a weapon our adversaries in today’s world do not have. Ronald Reagan |

So, if I read correctly (and it wasn't easy, trust me), you originally wanted the screen name "vigilant" but the name was taken? First, I would make sure to spell it correctly (my spelling is correct). Then I would add a digit after the word. For example "vigilant1" indicating that you are one who is vigilant and not a vigilante. If that is taken, place an additional digit in front of the word (1vigilant1). If I understand, your computer went down which is why it took the better part of 6 months to respond to our responses. Interesting...... I didn't know a ps3 would do what you are doing, but them hey...... what do I know about this newfangled technology? What ever works though. As for going with mom and her mope / criminal boyfriend / husband and what it may have done to you....... We still do not know exactly what that is or entails. That said, at some point your actions in life become your own decisions. You indicate that you are trying to do the right things now and all you are getting is hate in return. How so? You do not indicate how old you are either and at what age you were when this miraculous life change occurred for you. You may want to elaborate a little (or maybe even a lot) more on your past choices as opposed to dancing around the issue(s). Then maybe, we might have a better indication of how to advise you. |

Oh boy, where to start .....or not. Your original question some 6 months ago was if you could ever be "forgiven" for your past since you have been found and want to make a difference in law enforcement. Without knowing exactly what you did and when it would be impossible for us to tell. Based on your English skills I would say no. Not everyone is capable or has the character for this job. You can make a difference in the civilian workforce with the proper education and hard work. ""Life is a storm.. You will bask in the sunlight one moment, be shattered on the rocks the next. What makes you a man is what you do when that storm comes"

| Posted 6 months ago Even though I have not been here long I do know what a weird looking post looks like. Its weird to me what his screen name is, and what he said about being pardoned. I belive only the govener or the president can do that. And if you need that then you dont need to be a officer. Something like that is serious. |

I'll put it this way. If it is truly the Lord's will for you to become a police officer, it will happen, though you will have to do your part to make it happen. Since we are a skeptical bunch and know little about your circumstances, this is about all the encouragement you can expect from here. |

| Posted 6 months ago Vigilante, you seem to be a seeker. Someone who wants to help others and make his mark. Also still troubled by your past. Lost opportunties. You can transform yourself if you have courage. Think creatively. LEOs have all sorts of interests and expertise apart from law enforcement. You do too. Take an investigatory approach to your own life. Start exploring. Communication skills are important in all sorts of fields, whatever you choose. College level coursework in writing can do nothing but help you. A lot. Meantime, in a college environment the world will open up to you. You will find all sorts of interests and pursuits! You can create and realize your own dream using the talents you have plus new skills. Maybe you'll pursue a career working with youngsters who are at the crossroads. Maybe there are other youths who want to know more about what directed you to the right path. Criminal Justice courses are fun. Cops make interesting teachers, as a general rule. You'll get a better perspective on what is required to keep law in order in society these days. You also get a good perspective on how your talents are best put to use to help your community! Remember, law enforcement doesn't work in a vacuum. Law and order is just one component of a quality society. You can contribute. So find out where and when and go for it. |
