Posted about 1 year ago Hello all, I'm new here so I thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Joshua Swanson and I live in Northern California. I am 20 years old and currently I am in the United States Coast Guard as a Maritime Law Enforcement Specialist. I've been serving for a little over a year and a half. About a year ago i graduated from the Maritime Law Enforcement Academy at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Charleston, South Carolina. I am stationed at a port security unit in San Francisco, CA. If you don't know what we do, we are basically the Coast Guard's version of Infantry. We are deployable world-wide within 96 hours and once on scene, are combat ready and self sufficient for up to 30 days. We got back from Kuwait and Iraq about two years ago and we'll find out where we're going next in a few months. For several years it has been a dream of mine to become a law enforcement officer. While I am a federal law enforcement officer for the Coast Guard, I want to do more. I have a huge passion for it and have no desire to do anything else with my life. I will do anything I have to do to make that dream come true. My end goal is the FBI, Secret Service, or CIA. That being said, does anyone have a resource or blog that lists different agencies that are hiring? I am willing to go nationwide. Wherever it is, I'll go, so feel free to offer any suggestions or recommendations. I have tested with CBP and will be testing with Los Angeles soon. I am applying to Santa Clara, CA and San Francisco. I would like to put in a lot more applications though so any help is greatly appreciated. I look forward to joining your community and seeing if anyone knows of any agencies that are hiring. Josh |

| Posted about 1 year ago Good morning Josh and welconme to Police Link from Missouri.Much good fortune in the pursuit of your leo dream.Don't mean to rain on your parade but the C.I.A.--F.B.I. and Secret Service do require a college education.I know the A.T.F. used to take lateral transfers,years ago,from major Police Dept. I don't know what the current requirements for the D.E.A. are.You may wish to apply to them all. |

| Posted about 1 year ago ssu459, I am aware that I need a degree for the FBI and CIA. I've got another year and I'll have my bachelor's. After that, I'll be continuing on to my Master's. I'm taking accelerated courses to finish my degree as fast as possible. It isn't easy by any means but I think it's worth it in the long run. Thank you for the help. |
