Posted about 1 year ago So I am 17 years old, male I smoked weed once 2 months ago. Will. This look really bad on me when I tell the departments I apply for in the future after college? Will I be less likely to be hired for a position than someone else? |

| Posted about 1 year ago Seriously, your 17 years old. You need to stop this stuff and grow up. Doing weed is not going to help you in life. Your probably still in high school and probably hang around those that smoke right? Time for some new friends. Put yourself in positive surroundings and positive things. If this a job that you seriously want to do then you need decide now and not play around and experience wrong things. At this point in your life everything starts to show up on records and paperwork with someone. You wouldn't go in there for a million bucks...A Cop does it for less...A Reserve does it for free.... |

Well, at 17 you knew you wanted to be a cop but still chose to smoke the evil weed. I am of the opinion that when someone willfully breaks the law having that goal, is not someone most depts. want. It shows a lack of judgement and character. With all that said, you still have a chance provided that there is nothing else on your background by the time you are 21-22. You need to adjust your behavior and attitude. Watchwords for the day:Character,Honor,Ethics,Morals and just as important, Commitment. ""Life is a storm.. You will bask in the sunlight one moment, be shattered on the rocks the next. What makes you a man is what you do when that storm comes"

| Posted about 1 year ago It will effect it slightly. If you stop now though, you should be fine. The way it'll effect it will depend on the agency and how strong they feel you are as a person overall. Suppose it boils down to hiring you, or another applicant. They have a clean history, never done anything, and is just as strong of a candidate than you. You, on the other hand, have smoked weed. The likelyhood that they'll pick him is greater. |
