Posted about 1 year ago Hello, I have a few questions regarding my previous police link account question history and wanted to know if it would hurt my chances of becoming an officer. Fews years ago I posted in this forum " Would I be disqualified if I have tried psilocybin mushrooms as a minor". At the time when I recieved feedback I learned I was disqualified from becoming a police officer and choose to seek a new career path. The reason I am asking this question is because recently I found out that I was never given psilocybin mushrooms. When I was seventeen my friend thought of a genius idea to convince me that he gave me the mushrooms and he told me it was legal just like salvia. At the time I never heard of the mushrooms and didn't know it was a drug.Recently, I talked to my friend a few weeks ago and told him I coudn't become a police officer because of the situation. He laughed in my face and said the mushroom thing was a joke. I was pissed because I was devestated that I could not become a police officer but happy at the same time that I never took the mushrooms. Overall,I know in the future when I go through background checks the background investigator may find these types of questions that I asked online. The thing is I don't care that they've read my questions but the fact they may believe that I have taken the mushrooms. Can this hurt my chances of becoming an officer? |

| Posted about 1 year ago You have I-D-I-O-T friends. Only I-D-I-O-T-S play stupid pranks like this on their friends. The fact is, because of pranks like this (if in fact it was really a prank and you didn't just conjure up this whole story to see if it would fly) consider that these I-D-I-O-T-S are NOT really your friends. If you did just conjure up this story to see how it would fly, YOU would be the I-D-I-O-T if you think you could pass it off in your background. I don't know.......... the whole thing sounds made up. |

| Posted about 1 year ago To be honest I have no reason to lie, thats why I am asking the question. I guess I will have to bring up this topic once I enter the background check in the future. Maybe offering it as a poly graph question can help notify I am telling the truth. |

| Posted about 1 year ago Think your "friend" is an idiot for making up the story. Think you're a gullible idiot for believing it. Understand that in the law enforcement community when we hear someone start a sentence with "To be honest.." Most of us prepare to hear a lie! I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and make a couple suggestions: 1. Ask the department (aka agency) you're applying with and 2. go to the doctor and take a blood test and have them check. I don't know how long mushrooms stay in the bloodstream and how long ago since you took them (I don't really care to know either). And like uncledennis said, choose your friends carefully! | Posted about 1 year ago I am not buying your story. If this is your story bring it to the attention of the agency immediately as not to waste their time. Initial interview is the time to reveal. Please post a follow up as I am curious if the agency buys this story. |

| Posted about 1 year ago I think the relative point is you took them. You made a conscious decision to ingest them. Whether or not they were, your intent was clear. In my book, SORRY comes to mind. ""Life is a storm.. You will bask in the sunlight one moment, be shattered on the rocks the next. What makes you a man is what you do when that storm comes"

| Posted about 1 year ago Hello, I am not an LEO, but I do know that one should never eat mushrooms that are growing in the wild, because they could be very poisonous. I don't know what saliva is, except for that which is produced in our mouths, but I know that drugs should be administered by a physician. That is when it is legal to take them. Drugs can produce changes in our body, sometimes the doctor says we need them to make our body produce the right chemicals, such as a diabetic would need insulin. Any other drugs that are not necessary would not be doing your body any good. Recreational , as they refer to them, drugs are very harmful not only to the body, and mind, but to your future success in any field of study or career that you choose. This is why we have the DARE program, to teach kids not to be peer pressured into harming their body even if their friends choose to harm theirs. "Legal" drugs are prescriptions that are legitimately given to us by our doctors. Thanks. |
