Posted about 1 year ago Hello, I have been a member of the forum for about a day and thought I would post a brief introduction about myself. I am 26, currently working as a communications section sgt in Kuwait for the US Army. I have been in the military for a little over 8 years and after 2 1/2 years of deployment time under my belt I feel its time to move on and start working torwards my goal of a career in law enforcement. I have to say Im very exceited and I have to say a little nervous transitioning from the military and moving torwards becoming a Officer. I must say that I am very impressed by the help Ive already gotten in the small amount of time that I have been a member of this forum and I definately want to say thank you! I look forward to getting to know you all and hopefully I can get some of my questions answered so when I get back from deployment I can hit the ground running. |

| Posted about 1 year ago Welcome to PL. Good luck in your pursuit, but if you leave Active Duty get into the Guard or Reserves because you need to stay in and retire. Two pensions are better than one, as you can receive your military pension after 20+ years; unless in the Reserve Component, then you wait till age 60. All the while you will have your LE Pension available after you reach retirment time in service. There are never guarantees, but I semi retired from the military and I work for a county agency and have my LE Pension that is still accruing and every lil bit helps... |
