Posted about 1 year ago Hi everyone! I am a senior in college graduating with a degree in law enforcement and justice administration. I plan on going to grad school in the fall for law enforcement as well. I want to get a job as a police officer. I have completed 2 written tests and have passed both. I am currently applying at 2 more departments and plan to test with them in the next couple weeks. I also have an internship with the state police in the summer that I am really excited for. I would really appreciate any advice that anyone would like to provide to me about doing an internship, applying to departments, or furthering education in law enforcment. I work about 35 hours a week and go to school full-time but I want to try to do as much as possible to make myself more marketable. I am truly dedicated on making LE my career in the future. Feel free to ask questions that would spark more advice! Thanks so much. |

| Posted about 1 year ago Welcome to Policelink from California. I believe I have seen LEOs here recommend pursuing an educational course apart from Law Enforcement - but one that can also serve one's LE career demands. Might want to investigate that. |

| Posted about 1 year ago Good evening and a hearty welcome to Police Link.I definately concur with Marly en re to said degree, but it certainly won't hurt.If you are intending on continuing your education you may wish to strongly consider a Masters in Public Administration. This is the requirement in my dept. as well as many others,if you wish to attain the rank of Capt. or above. The reason I mentioned what I did ,in my first sentense, is that when I came on the job there were only five oir six of us with a degrree in Criminal Justice. When I retired it was about 90% of us ,ergo, making the supply much greater than the demand. It will,of course ,give you extra points toward your entrance exam and promotional exams. |

| Posted about 1 year ago Welcome to PL. During the internship be a sponge and soak it all up then start thinking about where you want to go within the career and you will have a road map to follow when you get in the door. Best of luck... |
