Hello All,

I am very ecstatic to have found this website. It has so much useful information.

I served in the Marine reserves in a 81mm mortar platoon for 4 years with a 7 month active duty tour during Desert Storm in Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Kuwait. Shortley after retiring from the reserves in 93, and still in my early 20's, I started a regular job that I was planning to only  work for a year or so to build up some money for me and my wife. One year became two, two became four..you get the picture.

Anyway, I found out (on my birthday of all days) that my company, whom I worked for over the last 19 years now, is moving overseas. So yes, I was bummed out. I was promoted many times and my last postion I did was a Health & Safety coordinator.  After about a day of sulking, I realized that I may be able to finally follow my dream of becoming a police or correctional officer. So I am pumped!

I am 41 now and now preparing for a career in law enforcement. As I mentioned, this site is very helpful. I hope my time in the marines is equivalent to the 2 year active duty requirements needed to be considered. I filled out an application to a police department in Rhode Island and I am scheduled to take the physical fitness test soon.

I need all the luck and prayers I can get.

Thanks everyone!

Rich

Welcome to Police Link, from Ohio!! Best wishes to you!!!

I'm slightly confused by something in your Intro. You "Retired" from the Marine Reserves after only 4 years? Was this a Medical Retirement or did you simply mean  your term was up? I only ask because it took me 20 years in the Military to Retire    :)

 Hello,

I just meant I did not re-enlist after my four years. I was honorably discharged. :o)
