Posted over 1 year ago Police Officers put their lives on the line day in and day out to keep citzens and the community safe. In this economy, police are forced to pick and choose which things their department needs or wants and what they can and can't afford. But, if money wasn't an issue and you could choose to have any personal item for your patrol car, uniform, holster, anything...what would it be? If you are feeling talkative...what is the biggest thing your department has had to cut back on? |

| Posted over 1 year ago If only I were empowered to do so I would ask The Master to restore to life all leos who had ever been slain in the line of duty.Guess it's a pretty tall order and I'm just a foolish old man. That, however ,is the only thing I believe I would care for. |

That's actually much better than a raise. |

| Posted over 1 year ago How's this for the ultimate wish item: A fully electric Crown Vic that would perform better than the current gasoline powered ones. And all the lights would have the same wattage was aircraft landing lights. I would also like ballistic panels in the doors. Reason? Stealth. And with the lights, a wall of illumination that you simply cannot overcome. I got guns and firepower up the wazzoo. And most of us know how to use them. No, I don't need a bazooka or a Barrett. Training point: If you are working nights or are in area where the ambient noise is low, if you want to hear stuff, just roll down your windown and turn off your car. Also turn down your radio. Spend a few minutes and engage your ears. You can hear all kinds of things going on, including criminal activity. |

| Posted over 1 year ago TheSarge, the only things stopping such a thing from becoming a reality is the state of battery technology and a lack of recharge stations. Electric vehicles are quicker off the line than any internal combustion engine powered one. Their acceleration curve is zero. Do any departments have ballistic panels in the doors? In fiction (Southland), the marked vehicles all have them and have prominently placed labels declaring "Ballistic Panel" on the insides of the doors. Is this a product placement that has yet to be widely adopted or at all?

There have been a couple of members who have said that their dept. places used ballistic vests in the door panels for added protection. The Carbon Motors E7 has ballistic panels in their doors as well as the dash panel for Officer protection. What I would wish for would of course be a raise and bringing back our dead brothers but mostly I would like to have recovered enough not to be in this pain and disability and able to have finished out my career with maybe 30-35 years and retire at a decent wage instead of a pension that is still lower than the poverty level and with no insurance. |

| Posted over 1 year ago Big bump to Robocop in regard to the pension statement.I retired some twenty years ago and have received three raises. How blessed is that? The city I live in now gives their retirees a cost of living increase every year and are much worse off financially than the city I retired from. When I first came on the job my city gave its retirees the first raise they had received in eleven years. |
