Introduction of Joe (Eoj0112)

Posted about 1 year ago Good Afternoon Y'all, Well here goes my introduction, first off my name is Joe. I'm currently in the Air Force and have been since I graduated High School back in '08, making it about three and a half years in, with about 2 and a half left. I hail from Michigan and like many others, wish to return home after my enlistment. That being said, ever since I can remember, I've always wanted to be a cop. Looking at it from an older more mature perspective now, it's a little odd, since no one in my family history has ever been a police officer, just construction/factory workers with a couple corporate workers in there as well. It wasn't until I was 16 when I found out why I wanted to be a cop (I think). At that age, my mom told me about a time she woke up to find me under my bed instead of in my bed one morning when I was three (I have no recollection of this at all). I told her I saw the "boogy man" in my sisters room (who happened to be staying at her friends house). My mom said she tried to get me to come out and I refused cause I was that scared, after my mom said she finally gave up (thinking I just had a bad dream or saw a shadow), she noticed the screen to my sisters room was cut, and random possestions throughout the house were missing, of course she called the cops and she said it wasn't until the cop came and told me that everything is going to be alright and that he is going to go get the boogy man when I finally came out from underneath my bed. Now with that being said, I'm almost completely sure that is why I want to be a cop, to give that sense of safety to others. Any time I help someone I always get a huge sense of pride. Ever since I've been studying up on the job, went on a few ride-alongs and feel it's the best choice for a career for me. I've been trying to set myself up for a career in this profession (i.e. no traffic tickets, no troubles with LE, finishing school, etc). I joined the Air Force to help with the college education and leave a better mark on the resume. Since I'm starting to see a little light at the end of the tunnel, I know I'm going to start having a lot of questions so figured I'd start my introduction. I think the biggest challenge of the whole transition is getting out of the Military, and finding a job as an LEO in this struggling economy, and because of that, I know I can't be pickey, I'm open to going anywhere to find a job. However I would prefer state or county (not into the city life) so patrolling a rural area would be my dream. |
