Hi,

I am currently a Sergeant with the Philadelphia (PA) Police Dept. I am planning on retiring this year & re-locating to Florida. Our work schedule up here is 4 on & 2 off, then 5 on & 2 off (8 hour days) rotating every 2 weeks between the day shift & middle shift, our midnight shift is staffed with steady officers. Would like to know how the FHP works out their schedule as I plan on applying to their organization.

Thank you,

Michael Lorusso

FHP works 8 hr shifts. 5 on 2 off. While some trrops or districts w/in a troop may differ a little, the overwhelming majority have three shifts. You have day shift w/weekends off, evening shift w/Wed/Thurs off and relief shift (Which covers the other shifts days off and works a split shift on Fri) and has Mon/Tues off. Again some Troops or Districts w/in a Troop may differ. You really won't know until you are hired and given your assignment. Feel free to ask questions, disregard some peoples tendencies to speak on matters they know nothing about. This is a State Police & Highway Patrol forum so this would be a good place to ask those type questions. You may also want to read the TOU's and do an introduction thread.

Lulusgt,

Thanks for the info, very much appreciated. I will probably be applying to the FHP within the next 6 months & I'm going to call a recruiter this week to get some more info, thanks again.

I may have had a senior moment as I thought I had commented on this. I think direct contact with the agency is important. I sincerely wish you well.
