Hello all,

I write a blog called ColdNoMore.wordpress.org which is mostly about cold cases (or cases that may have been closed prematurely). Anyway from time to time, it would be great to have a list of experts who I could bounce things off of. It could be with credit (i.e. your name) or anonymous. Either way, I've got huge respect for people in LE.

I spent 10 years on the drug interdiction patrols with the Coast Guard a long, long time ago.

Now I'm in the more mundane world of sports television, however, the blog is a hobby I enjoy doing. But I could use some help from officers on the street to medical examiners and everyone in between. This guy has been here for two years and this is his first post? NOBODY here is or will claim to be an expert LE and if they do, rest assured they are not even LE. You need to develop some Creds with police officers before any will open up to you. This isn't a TV show and you are not "Castle" from "Castle's Law" Sorry

Holliston I don't believe anyone tore into you, they just made a statement to let you know not to expect anything. Also, if you had been reading these past years you would know how they would react.

I did look at the OP's blog.  I wouldn't touch that mess with a ten foot pole.

Hollister, Nobody is jumping at you. It is simply that none of us are willing to call ourselves 'experts' because we are all learning something new every single day of our career AND even after we retire. LE is a consistently changing profession that will never be mastered even though we tend to think that the older Officers often are more experienced and are often better able to handle new scenarios.

You have not caused a 'ruckus' at all. You were simply and rather politely and with good humor told that no real Police Officer is going to fit your bill and if they tell you they do, they are lying to you. We LEOs are not a trusting group and with very good reason. None of us are going to pour out our hearts or give you confidential information about current crimes, cold case or not. That is not done as we are not about to let some important information slip out and screw up an investigation. This is real life, and real facts. If you don't like being told the truth, then I am sorry, you should not ask.

For having spent 10 years in drug interdiction patrols, I would think you would know better. To come here and ask us to give personal opinions about cold cases, that's putting us on the fast track to get fired. It'll be hard for you to find someone who will go out on a limb for you just to give your website that extra "swagger"

So to me it is about being a professional. You intentions may have been well, but it's not a risk any of us are going to take.

If you are looking for an expert you probably won't find one here who claims to be.The vast majority of leos are quite modest and their actions speak louder than their words.We don't have to and are not likely to promote ourselves as "EXPERTS".I am quite convinced that if any one of us came on here claiming to be an expert the rest of us would be on his/her case immediately and rightfully so.
