Has anyone tried the back defender suspenders or any type of suspenders? I have tried to contact the people at "Back defender", but have not been able to make contact with anyone.

I am not big on the idea of wearing the suspenders, but my knees and legs are!! Plus I have heard that they greatly improve mobility from restrictions with the duty belt.

I wear a back defender. On a scale of 1-10, I give it a 15. It took away all the pain from my back and hips. Also, some added benefits are it keeps ur shirt tucked in and keeps ur vest down, you dont constantly have to push your vest down.

I will admit, the back defender personell are hard to reach, which is weird considering they are a business, but I think the back defender is gold.

Our Chief dont like the suspenders, he calls them suicide straps.  Several of us started wearing the K&W brand which are worn over the uniform. They are helpful in getting the weight off the hips.  Chief's answer to the problem, oddly enough, is load bearing molle body armor carriers to be wore with a specific uniform, the jumpsuit that most of us wear all the time.  That starts sometime next month.  Traditional uniforms with still be worn with traditional duty belts with suspenders if need be

I got the back defender. I think they will work great during the summer but I'm in Wisconsin and I wear two pair of thermal lowers and usually 3 or 4 layers on my upper body because I don't like wearing a jacket while I work 3rd shift. Anyways, the back defender wasnt working out with all my layers on but when I tried it without so many layers it worked great. For me, however, it doesn't make sense to have them when I can only wear them April through September. I'm considering over the uniform suspenders but I worry about being grabbed by them or snagged by them...kind of like Scurge is refering to "suicide straps". Any thoughts on that? I know that most makers of outside of uniform suspenders say they are "break away" but after I get tossed to the ground? I imagine if they have a low break point, that would defeat the purpose....anyways, i'm rambling.

Fortunately I dont have those probelms as I work in Texas and it never really drops below freezing, even in cold fronts, however I can relate on the fact that you do need to have loose pants for them to work ideally. When I first got them, I was wearing pants that fit perfectly and the back defender wasnt all that great, however I jumped up 2 inches in waist size and now wouldnt go a day without wearing em. I have a bad back from goin to Iraq and the back defender has worked a miracle on back.
