Good question. While the photo is not a picture of my old VW, I did own a '67 Bug. If I could, I would have another one tucked in my garage. Great car. So great, that someone stole it and dumped it two cities away. Very sad day.

OUCH......... I can certainly feel your pain there.  I am currently working on a '71 Super Beetle that I rescued from impound for $200 bucks.  Between March or April, I plan on putting in a new motor and using it as a near daily ride.

OORah, Sarge.  It's about **** time you got all the keys!  We all stand with ya.

Just got excited about a new book I saw on TV. Bill O'Reilly interviewed the author on The Factor.

Chief Chris Kyle's book: "American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in American History". 150+ confirmed in 4 deployments as a SEAL sniper. According to the interview, Kyle puts things in perspective perfectly. He did his work for all the right reasons. I put in my order on Amazon just a while ago.

As I just have returned from a short hiatus, here are my thoughts:

1. I could care less for all of the bells and whistles that many of the "other sites" have. The more bells and whistles, the more of a chance of things acting up or going south.

2. I enjoy the "family" that we have here on PL. I consider a number of the members to be some of my very closest friends and even have a few honorary aunts and uncles for my new addition from PL.

3. Even though things may not be perfect, I think that we have all learned to adapt while working on the job. I never remember having any of the new gear and gadgets that many of other larger or better funded departments had. Oh well, I am still alive and kicking, and that is all that matters.

4. We'll keep this boat afloat no matter what.

Cory, I just have to say that you have the most consistently positive attitude I have ever seen -not just about website maintenance, either but life in general.  I am glad to have you as a PL friend! 

Amanda, thanks for the compliment. What you see is what you get with me. I am blessed to have the friends that I have here on PL, including yourself. I won't burst into song with Tim McGraw's Live Like You Are Dying, but that is how I operate each and every day. Why fret and worry about things, take life by the horns and if anyone wants to rain on your parade, either they can step aside of be run over. In my years in LE, I have taken the good with the bad, the blood with the tears of joy, and I feel that this job is truly a way to learn to appreciate life. And what better way to share this philosophy than with the crew here?
