Posted over 1 year ago Hey guys, haven't been on here in quite awhile, but thought I'd stop in and say hello, and also "axe" a question of anyone that may have the knowledge I seek. I have been in the process with a few departments for quite some time, coming up on 3 months (not abnormal, I know), but I was wondering if anyone knew of departments that are hiring in Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and Colorado. I want to stay within the midwest (for now). I look at all sorts of websites at job openings but its definitely not all inclusive. If anyone has knowledge of somewhere hiring could you please let me know. Edit: Just thought I would add a little more info on me to help you; I am 9 hours from my Bachelor's in C.J. and Sociology, I did not take additional classes in hopes that I would get hired by a department, they ended up taking certified officers instead. If I was to go to a police academy it would count as my 9 hours, another piece of advice from you seasoned folks out there is; should I wait it out for a department to pay me to go, or should I put myself through one, and thus earn my degree?
Thanks alot. |

| Posted over 1 year ago Check the KC area they almost always have a department hiring. I'm not sure if KCMO is hiring. Other than that I would just google until your fingers hurt. Google every department you are interested in and see if they are hiring. Email and call recruiters. As far as putting yourself through the academy it is always a good option to consider. Unfortunately in Kansas there are no academies that will allow you to sponsor yourself. You must be employed with a department in order to attend any Kansas law enforcement academy. State law.
