Are any of you reserves a k9 handler? We have a reserve in our earea that is a k9 handler. It seem's like that would be tough to do as a reserve. Just wondered if any oif you are.

I am a reserve here in SC and never heard of a reserve being a K9 handler. Unless its search and rescue related. These dogs cost a lot of money not only to buy but the training of the dog, training of the officer, the upkeep of the dog.Unless the reserve is retired from his real job and this is the only job he does, then I can see it might be true.

You wouldn't go in there for a million bucks...A Cop does it for less...A Reserve does it for free....

I can assume your agency has no K-9 officers to axe. Call the agency and inform them your agency is considering a reserve K-9 handler and ask how their program is working. They will open up to a brother or sister in blue.
