I really did'nt want to post this on this forum because I am a  very private person but I need advice from this forum as well...as some of you know I am currently going through a nasty divorce. this week I acknowledged that my ex is hacking into my email accounts , he has a friend that is a private investigator that is doing it for him for personal favors, I know my account was hacked because he questioned me about the contents of a email that I sent sunday morning. I have changed all my passwords got a new account all of my security questions and I still think my account is being hacked b/c of traces in my inbox trash folders etc.. On Monday I went to the police to try to file charges for harrassment, I have it in text him pretty much confessing that he hacked or had someone hack into my account but apparently that was'nt good enough, I was told that I could not press charges based on assumption I guess meaning I could not prove if he did it or the PI if she did it she is protected. I was also told by the deputy too and I qoute , " You can always have fun with them hacking into your stuff and make something up for them to read "???   WTH???    kind of advice is that..... He was not very smart obviously...... I really don't care what they hack into because I have nothing to hide BUT it unnerves me b/c I have a domestic violence charge againist him from five months ago, On Monday I also tried to get an injunction againist him and the clerk basically told me that the judge would probably deny it....because I was honest and told her my reasonings for wanting it involved him hacking into my stuff. should'nt that be considered stalking?  When I asked him why he did it his response was for my own personal reasons....we filed for our divorce three weeks ago.... and basically I'm being told there is nothing I can do to stop this . any advice will be appreciated..

uncledennis is correct, since you have a domestic violence case aginst him,am I understanding correctly that the case is still open? If so, let the Prosecuting Atty now what you suspect including the text. Part of the problem with the text at least in NY is it can be hard to prove it was him. He can always say yes it was his phone but it wasn't him. Good luck

Something I would do is make sure my remote access on my computer is disabled.   I would also change my email carrier too.   And have several email addresses.   I have 1 that only close friends have, 1 for friends but not real close and a third I give out when places ask for email address and I want to give it to them.    Also maybe search for how to help protect yourself againt hackers.     My very unprofessional  opinion.
