Dave, if we are going to play disco then you HAVE to get up and dance.

How 'bout some Boyz II Men "Motown Philly"

If we're going to get up and dance, someone needs to bring "American Pie"

It is a little bit of Heaven to see the Longhorns get smoked.

Speaking of final arrangements, while the BBQ's on, maybe one of you can tell me what happened here?

Cool,

All I'm going to say is that if you really do care about the truth, then seek it. I can tell you have read some scriptures, but I don't believe it was to decide whether or not they are true. I think you may have had that pressuposition beforehand. Maybe I'm wrong.

I also see that you have not taken my advice and reviewed the principle of contradiction by Aristotle. Oh well, I tried.

Matthew and John were disciples. You're right they weren't eyewitnesses....wait a minute.

I never said I was the first "true" Christian. Maybe I'm the first "true" Christian you've encountered. If so, I'm flattered. I will quote you " People of faith have absolutely no problem evaluating the reasonableness or efficacy of any religious book or faith but their own." This is a stereotype. You have continuously painted Christians in a negative light as egotistical, narrow-minded, violent people of faith. If that is your idea of a Christian then hopefully I enlighten you. I would love to show you what a true Christian is all about. I love you brother! And that's the truth, no lie. I love you because God loves you, and before I loved anyone else he first loved me. True Christians love. They teach and they edify. They build people up. They do not kill. And they are not blind reason-less robots.

I wasn't trying to start a creationism debate. Only to show you that no matter what position you hold, Atheist or Theist, you gonna have to give what you call a "magical" answer. Thanks for your honesty though. It is a question that holds great weight and should no be overlooked.

I also want to add the bible was not written to be a historical textbook of events that happened in the past. It is a theological book. It doesnt need supplemental book and records to confirm what it says. Just like the biography of Frederick Douglas does not need supplemental data for it to be deemed as reliable. It is a story of what happened. The bible is a love story.

Sorry, the resurrection of the dead is only for those who believe. My God will not be MOCKED! He is patient...storing up his wrath. Sooner or later we'll see who is right. Me personally, I'd rather be on the winning side.

I am being charged with "stereotyping" you as a christian? What makes christianity more true and right in comparison to Muslim or Hindu faiths or any other present day religious faith or those of antiquity? Is it not egotistical to believe, without one shred of evidence, that you are god's chosen favorites? That you know the will of this creator due to your reading of a non-historical religious book. That all who do not share your fantasies of death and afterlife are doomed to eternal hellfire. Regardless of where they were born or what culture or religion they were indoctrinated? That a person could be born, taught a completely different faith, lived righteously and be doomed to hellfire because he did not read and believe the right book. I submit that it demonstrates the very essence of violent egotistical narrow mindedness.

The Bible is not a love story, it is a horror story. It's violent imagery and story of this angry, capricious and vengeful deity has spawned more pain and suffering than can possibly be accurately measured. Believe what you will, but I have read the books, several times. I was just thinking about your suggestion of the book by Aristotle, I can say I've never heard of it but I will give it a look.

You are right, we will see what happens in the end.

I agree with Dayngerous that most of the  TRANSLATIONS of the Bible we have are a HORROR STORY, not a love story.  This started with St Augustine when he espoused the doctrine of ETERNAL HELL, instead of a hell that was remedial, and had an end.  Most translations of the Greek words Aion, and Aionios (age, ages) are translated "eternal", "eternity", or "everlasting".  The correct translation is Age, or Ages.  An age has a beginning and an end.  There-for "hell" is for an "age", is "remedial", and is "the last outpost of love" as some have said.  A good book to read on this is:  HOPE BEYOND HELL!  which can be down-loaded free on the website of the same name.

It's 10/21/2011, the posponed ate of the end of the world (if you remember it originally was to end in March of this year).  While the day is not over yet, it looks like the end of the world is getting posponed again, that's a good thing as I just renewed my suscription.

Actually if u remember before the first flop (in May actually) first one was supposed to be the rapture, then 5 months of suffering for the ones left behind, the the destruction of the world in October.  And although everyone else will probably be fine, everything that has happened to me today is trying to drive me to my eternal end...that or an everlasting stay at the local mental institute.

The only reason all of this 12-21-2012 end of the world thing started is because this is when the Mayan calendar ends. The Mayans had very advanced knowledge of astronomy and what will actually happen on that day is that all of the planets in the solar system will come into perfect alignment. I personally don't believe this will signal the end of the world as we know it but if enough people believe in it then you can expect some riots and looting going on. Some people just look for an excuse to cause problems and get something for nothing (looting). Either way, I'll stock up on ammo just in case.

As the saying goes........... It loses in the translation.  As for the accounts, they are told from the perspective of Matthew, Mark Luke and John, all present during the events prior to the crucifixion.  Were the accounts translated incorrectly or like many of our witness interviews, each witness saw the exact same event a little different from the other?  I am far from being a Biblical scholar and I certainly do not profess myself to be.  I will however take the teachings and the accounts in the Bible on faith and say that the Bible is the word of God as far as it is translated correctly.  Myself, I prefer the King James version to other versions of the same.  As for the "End of the world"............ I will be as ready as anyone.

Not to worry!  I handed in my end-of-the-world RainCheck, and I think we're all good til the end of December-2011.  Back to the Bee Bee Que and Biblical disputes, I tend to lay in the cut on those, but learn alot!   With me being Predominately Italian, From New Jersey, A very good dancer and Marvelous vocal coach(lol'z), I would like to put in a request to have Bayonne NJ's Ol' Frankie Blue Eyes added to the Playlist.  Oh wait, a little Andrea Crouch too!!  Can the Pref Venue be in a Hot Climate-Jerseys getting chilly. What do ya'all say??   Please, Please, Please???!!!

(OK, In reality everything is true, but the Vocal coaching is only taught in the showerpoor shower)

Hold on there a minute. Much as I like the idea of the vocal lessons in the shower, Lonna, () I do believe Ol' Blue Eyes was from Hoboken, not Bayonne.
