I have my great-grandfather's night stick and a few other items when he was worked for NYPD. He was part of the Traffic Control unit and was on horse patrol in Times Square. I was wondering if anyone else has anything like that either from their family or that they picked up somewhere.

My father in-law recently gave me his deceased fathers leather slap from when he was a Patrol Officer in St Louis. After handling it, I would take a hit from an asp any day over it.

I have some old patches from the 60's, a full dress uniform for a local PD from 69, a police whistle from the 1880's and one from the 1910's, a few pieces of leather gear from the 30's-40's and an old Connecticut DOC badge. Other than that I have a few buttons from the turn of the century and a few documents.

I have a couple of pieces from my dad, but hell he was just in the 70's and I came in about 14 years later. I recently aquired an old wood stick from a retired deputy. I am going to try to start a collection of old badges if the funds will allow.

Does it count if you're a human antique?

I have my grandfather's FOP lodge card from the 50s or 60s I think. My dad also has my grandfather's Alabama academy key.

I have a 20's - 30's era bullet resistant vest. It's actually a suit vest, lined with lead plates. Pretty neat.

We have Ken Carter cadet Class # 40, I was class 79 and that was 6 years ago. He'll hit 40 years in service this year or next. But I do also have my uncles Chiefs badge from about 30 years ago.

Had a rather interesting afternoon yesterday. Was working on a case in southern Illinois and had occasion to interview a victim in this case.  During the course of the interview, he mentioned he was a retired history professor and was an avid collector of the Colt Single Action Army Revolver of which I have an interest myself.  He went on to state he has a large collection of original pistols still in original boxes of which he showed me several that were quite impressive.  Probably the most impressive to me was an actual Colt .44 with a 4 1/2 barrel that was custom ordered by Bat Masterson direct from the Colt factory in Hartford, CT in I believe either 1881 or 82.  The gentleman showed me the letter of authenticity and let me hold the gun briefly which is in beautiful condition for its age.  According to this gentleman Masterson never actually used it and it has only been fired a few times.  The gentleman paid $17,000.00 for it at a gun show in another state.  I enjoy studying about old Colts and Winchesters but as far as collecting, its too rich for my blood.  For those who may not know of Bat Masterson, he was born in Illinois and spent some time as a peace officer in Kansas with Wyatt Earp wayyyyy back when.  In later years, he worked as a sports writer for a New York newspaper.

I was able to get one of the original Police call boxes from the City of Pittsburgh. It's marked Police Telegraph w/ crossed night sticks on front. When you open the door whith the old 4" long brass key,  it has a wooden knob swich which can be moved to  Police, Fire, Riot. and one of the old cranks with a built in crank phone mouth piece and a corded ear piece.  It takes two just to lift it.

OMG this one looks like it's lost it's antiquity value, someone didn't properly maintain and store it.
