Violent storms with 100 mph gusts, 3" diameter hail & visbilities to 5-10 feet, have closed Eppley Field, Omaha,NE. SW Airlines have cancelled 13 flights. Pilot in jetway there hit by hail and was transported to hospital conscious. Violent storms in Midwest have snapped power poles, produced 4.25 diameter hail. Dust storms & 70 mph winds have raked south AZ.

I think we will see more of this kind of weather!

That is crazy! Up here in Oregon, we have had an unusually cool summer. I don't think we hit 90 degrees. But knowing Oregon's reputation for rain, no it has only rained a few times this summer.

But very weird..

Ed -

You called it.  Look at Irene about to hit Eastern seaboard, as big as Katrina, now a Cat 3, 115 mph winds, 65 million + in her path, all the way from NC to New England.

one year and 7 months, No Rain!!  Wildfires all over Texas.  Can't even BBQ for fear of starting a fire!      Wierdist thing is to look on the radar and see rain commming and then it disappears before it gets to you!

I am in upstate NY (capital region) in august we felt an earthquake that went along the east coast  ....

Hurrican Irene, downgraded to a tropical storm, wreak havoc in our area, but not as bad as other areas in New York state and vermont & Massachussetts,  as well as states south of NY end of August.  Three days after Irene hit, I flew out to San Diego for vacation.  About a week later, a tornado touched down in a neighboring county, on my return to New York, parts of New York was struck hard by Hurricane Lee ....    incredible damage that we are not use to  ......   I'll take the snow over the rain !
