Posted almost 2 years ago I was looking through some pass trials for a particular case for class and I saw where one guy got 950 years without even the remote possibility of being released. Why do they hand down life sentences beyond a "normal" person's life? Why don't they just say till the day you die? |

I agree, and easier/safer for the cops and docs or nurse that work at the jail. I mean if you knew you didn't have a chance in hell to get out of there wouldn't you go nuts and try to escape at every chance you got even if innocent people would get hurt? Then again, these aren't chea pets that are in for life and beyond and most of them are already insane/criminally violent. |

| Posted almost 2 years ago Tigerlily, there are only 2 states where if you are sentenced to life it means natural life. La. and Pa. Yes, other states have a life sentence but they have to state life without parole. If they are just sentenced to life they get parole eligible dates,it doens't mean that they will make parole. | Posted almost 2 years ago Well i heard on the news recently that each california excecution cost over $300,000,000. Now i know thats california and its probably less efficient than other states, but how much could the difference be? "The alternative to capital punishment – sentencing the most serious crimes to life in prison with no chance of parole – would by comparison be much cheaper. The authors calculate that every year California spends almost $200m more than it would were all death row inmates transferred on to life without parole." What would you guys suggest? Thoughts? My opinion on CP is they should serve life, because quite frankly, that would be worse than dying. Though you could argue the cost, the danger argument still has a point, it is riskier to keep these people alive. Thoughts?
