Baltimore City Hiring Process

Posted about 2 years ago Hi all, Thanks for taking the time to read this. I'm in the process of moving to MD, and I've secured a 2-day condensed processing session with Baltimore City PD. They basically jam written, oral, PT, and I think the psych test into a 2 day period. I've been reading up on the dept, and I plan to schedule a ride along asap. I've got a MA in Forensic Psychology, I'm in good shape, my record is clean, I've been through a citizen's police academy, and I'm a volunteer GAL through CASA. I thought I was a sure thing at any dept, until I tested at a few smaller ones. They opted for guys who were already certified. It was a tough pill to swallow, but I suppose I can't worry about things that are out of my control. Still, it kind of shook my confidence. I'm hoping to have better luck with a bigger dept. My question is twofold: 1. Any current or former Baltimore City officers, I'd certainly appreciate any tips you could give me in terms of the process. 2. I know I should focus on making myself the best candidate possible, and forget about the others, because it's out of my control, but I'm tired of being passed over for people who are already certified. Any ideas on how I could make myself a more attractive candidate? I really just want to tell the oral board that I just someone to give me a shot (but I know better). Thanks for taking the time to read! |

| Posted about 2 years ago They will inform you of the processing. My best advice is keep the ego in check and realize you are not a shoe in. This can be the kiss of death. As chief I never hired an applicant with a bigger ego than mine. |
