| Posted almost 2 years ago Andrea, maybe it was because you were too nervous when you took the test. See if you can retake the test and just go into the test more relaxed. Shoot, drink a few alcoholic beverages, if you need to, to calm your nerves before you take it. The tests are tough, but you're smart, and I know if given the chance to retake it, you'll do fine. |

| Posted almost 2 years ago officerd84254. Re think the advice you are giving. I am surprised a police officer would suggest she have a few alcholic beverages. It would slow reaction time and she needs a clear head for the test. What if someone smells booze on her? |

| Posted almost 2 years ago Hmmm....... I haven't checked this lately. yea, I would have to say that was the worst advice to give someone. I would never allow myself to be impaired in any job, nor would I allow another to be that worked with me. |

| Posted almost 2 years ago You stay out and you will get it!! Remember it was just ONE test, lots of us had to apply 2, 3, even 4 times before we got our first break. As far as the dispatcher tests be all alike, I dont think so, I asked some dispatcher friends of mine and they said no. Stay at it, you know your an amazing, talented woman with a great head on your shoulders!! I personally think you would be better off taking the corrections deputy job anyway!! And oh yeah, I know your smarter then that, but dont follow the adivce of that Delta Bravo above Hit me up in the chat tonight if you wanna the shoot the feces!!

| Posted almost 2 years ago People, I was joking. I was just trying to lighten things up a little. Do you have no sense of humor? I don't condone alcoholic beverages for a clear mind. Please accept my apology and know that I was only joking. |

| Posted almost 2 years ago Personally I did not see any humor in a police officer making the terrible suggestions that he made. Nuff said. |

There are books out there that can sort of "re-create" the tests. The ones I used 16 years ago, I found in the local library and were put out there by a company called "Arco". It was back in the reference area of the library. For close to two weeks before the test I spent all of my free time testing, testing and testing some more. I ended up acing the real test when it came time to take it because my mind was in "testing mode". . . .so to speak. Now that you know what the "tests" are like. . . . .you can find similar material and practice this time. . . . .for the next time you test. Good luck in your endeavors. |

| Posted almost 2 years ago Andrea, I often reiterate the old cliche to my daughters, at first you don't succeed........ It's obvious you are adamant about LE, and you WILL succeed. We have many dispatchers that PT at my job also, and now I'm wondering if anyone PD's have a "sit along" to those going into this field? hmmm..... What doesn't kill me had better start running! |

Thanks Lonna!!! I should call aroud and ask. |
. Have no clue why and plan on hopefully discussing it with the director tomorrow. Im just curious if all exams are similar. It consisted of three parts: a reaction test, general english and math test, and personality test. If any dispatchers could respond I'd appreciate it. This wasn't for city or state dispatching, It was a company that worked for several suburbs in my area.
