Posted about 2 years ago I was involved in a traffic accident amd I am currently in the hiring process with a few departments. Will it look poorly if I file a lawsuit for personal injury? Would this impact my hiring process? Thanks and stay safe. |

| Posted about 2 years ago When I was processing departments wouldn't touch you with a lawsuit pending. They wanted a letter of disposition. However if you are fighting a traffic incident it might be different. You should contact a recruiter for your dept. of choice. |

| Posted about 2 years ago The only concern is are you injured? If you were injured in the crash there may be a question as to whether or not you are fit to be an officer. Other than that is shouldn't matter. At least not in my dept. |

| Posted about 2 years ago Usually on most applications they ask if you are involved in any on going lawsuits. Be honest and let them know what is going on. An explanation might be needed. | Posted about 2 years ago Actually..... The two things a department would be most concerned about is if any injury sustained and claimed in your suit would preclude you from working in the capacity of a police officer / sheriff's deputy, etc. or if you were the one being sued. |
