I received this in my department email and thought it could be helpful.  I am sure many of you already know this or have seen this, but for the few that have not, it may save a life or at least prevent injury or damage.

The story behind this is a guy with a Galco JAK202 Slide Belt Holster didn't realize the wear on his holster was about to interfere with the trigger on his Glock 19 9mm.  As he sat down in the car, the gun went off in the holster.  See the pictures for a better idea.

I'd have to get a clean pair of shorts after that.

WOW!!!

I love my well worn broken in holsters but maybe I should start replacing them and checking for serviceability (sp?)

Thanks for the heads up, great thread!!!

Although thats a crappy day for that dude.... this is quite funny to me. (Gosh im terrible). We had a rookie kid shoot himself in the foot last year, was the funniest thing I had ever seen in my life. The look on his face..... ahhh...but anyways. Will say something. I know a guy that still uses that "old school" looking thing. Dang.

LOL. I'd need a clean pair of shorts after that...and not because the bullet ripped them.

The first thing the guy with the camera/phone did was to take a picture? What an A$$.

No. He's been there for a little bit.  At least long enough to analyze trajectory.

I knew I hated that type of holster for a reason. From the looks of the holster it should have been a warning sign. That bind had been in the holster for quite some time. When you use cheap thin leather its bound to happen sooner or later. Whats sad is the quality of leather in a lot of name brand products is going down and the price is going up

This is why I have a Blackhawk Surpa holster.  This will never happen.

Wow, prayers for recovery to the guy.  I just found a new use for all of my chop stix.  I don't need my fancy trajectory kit with lasers anymore...

Seems a little odd that they found a rod to run through the holes in the seat and a camera to photograph the rod and the hole in his poor guys pants and leg, Burnt skin and all before medical help arrived.  Hell I always carry a rod like that just in case this happens.

According to the email i received, this incident occurred as he sat down in the car after he and his wife left a restaurant.  Once it happened and he realized he was okay, he had her take the picture.  As far as the trajectory rod, I am not sure.  That wasn't explained.

We should all be checking our equipment regularly for servicability and function! It could have been a lot worse for this guy

Thats what I got. Plus the injury was able to be treated with a simple bandage. It looks worse than that in the pics tho. Like there's actually meat missing.
