Taking a trip to the area next week.  Anybody have any suggestions of what to do with the family. Any good beaches in the area?

Thanks

One of the best places to take your family. They have the old Fort. They also have a large downtown filled with shops and historical places to visit. You can walk in this large area. Make sure you buy tickets for the Trolley. The Ripley`s museum is definitely worth visiting. St. Anastasia`s Island is over the bridge. It has beautiful beaches. Do the ghost tour on the trolley it is family friendly. It has tons of information. The Old jail is great too. You will have a very memorable vacation. Don`t forget Kilwins the kids will love it. You are soooo lucky.

Dawg, this place is so great that I ended up moving the whole family here and have been here since 1986 now and still loving it! You have tons of attractions downtown including the Fort and Historic area. St George St is a walking street with lots of quaint little shops and historic buildings. The Bridge of Lions has just been rebuilt in all it's glory AND the famous marble Lions again guard the entrance. Make sure you take the kids to the Pirate Museum. The Beaches are just a couple miles from downtown and you can drive on them so take your vehicle with all your stuff right down onto the beach and have a great day. The sand is great and the water is starting to warm up some. Too early for us locals without a wet suit but there are plenty of folks down here already in the water thinking it great! Daytona Beach is just an hour south with it's famous beach and the Speedway that you can tour if you are into NASCAR at all it is a must see. Orlando is an hour and a half away to all they have to offer. The St Johns river borders us to the west and it is the only river in North America that runs north and it is a huge river at that. Tons of wonderful restaurants here as well from your standard fare to the ultra high end and even the fish camps that serve great 'gator' tails. We have it all here.
