My name is Debbie and I am a not a police officer as much as it shames me, I am on probation. I have been on a ankle monitor now for 9 months. I am suppose to get off of it the 13th but for some reason my read outs keep showing activity. I truly and honestly with all my soul have not been tampering with it nor do I ever leave when I am not schuduled too. Our phone is through the cable and on that same line we have our house phone, my monitor and his heart monitor that sends a reading every day. The cable company has been her several times and have replaced wires 3 times, we have baught new phones and it still will start squeling and I am standing right beside the base. I am desperate for some help or advice

First, post a introduction in our Introduction area. It helps with people getting to know you.

Second, in my entire career I never had to deal with monitors. None. People either went to jail or prison. Period.

However, based on a smidgen of common sense, I would call the court that issued the home monitoring system and 'get on the record' your complaint about erroneous readings and problems. That way, if you have a LEO or Probation Officer show up at your place, you can advise them that you tried to get it addressed through the right channels.

Beyond that, can't help ya. Sorry.

(And, gotta put this in here: You wouldn't have this problem if you didn't have criminal issues. Yup, .... you knew THAT was coming.)

Sarge, we have a satellite-based tracking system through the S.O. that allows people to go home. Yes, it's an ankle monitor and yes, it is pretty darn reliable. It helps the S.O. save money as the folks who are allowed on the program are non-violent offenders, the taxpayers don't have to pay for their three hots and a cot, they have to pay $$$ to be on it, and if they have a medical emergency the S.O. doesn't have to foot the bill.

I don't have any advise for the young lady beyond saying stay home during your ordered curfew. If it is malfunctioning perhaps ask whoever the administrator of your program is for a new monitor.

Not schooled sir, advised. This is definitely a new world and we can't possibly afford to house everyone that needs free 8X12 accomodations. Our new Judicial Center is a $30 million facility and the taxpayers of this county threw a fit when handed the bill. It expanded our housing capacity by a factor of almost 4X (from 80 beds to just over 300) with room to expand. It is state of the art and expandable for the county's future needs. That being said, if we didn't have the EOMP in place we would've needed more beds (and C.O.'s) from the get go. All good to me as I have the wonderful opportunity to haul the perps and psycho's in. Really doesn't matter where they go, as long as it is away.........until the chase next time.

So I guess 'stacking and packing' is being phased out? Hmmmm.... it was so cozy with 10 in a cell meant for 4. But it's true, we do need the room. The clanging, the slamming, the echoing of non-stop yelling, walls painted 30 layers thick...... I miss it so.

Thank everyone for responded to my topic. Sarge you are very right, it was because I broke the law that I am in this situation. Trust me if only I could do it over again. I bet you have heard that a few times. I have a great deal of respect for police officers they don't pay you guys anything what your worth. I am 51 and have never been in trouble before in my whole life. This experience has made me have even more repect because I have never been around ( how do I want to say this) these different kinds of people. They are pretty scary. I thank the Lord every day I am here and not in prison. Those women would of chewed me up and spit me out.

Back to my anklet. I didn't know if they could track me or if it just read over the computer. I wish I did have the tracking because the would be proof I am here at home just where I am suppose to be. I have even told my PO that when they see it is doing what ever it does to please come to my house and they would see that I am here.. It is just frustrating because I am doing everything they say because I am to scared to death not to and  I don't want to go to jail. I believe in paying for what I did, I just don't want to pay for what I havent done. My PO is wonderful, we are trying different things so that we can show that it isn't always working properly. I will talk to you all later in is finals and I still have a presentaion to finish. Have a wonderful weekend!

How thoughtless of me to forget. That certain aroma .... that, hmmmm,.. 'je ne sais quoi'. It wafts. It floats. It sticks to your uniform.

Kinda like poo, vomit, body rot (note I didn't say 'body odor', like the stuff you earn after an hour at the gym. That's different.), urine, a touch of crank, alkeehol and never washed socks. Mix it all with a little humidity, heat and whatever they're cooking up in the kitchen and ....

VOILA ! Welcome to Intake !

Ah yes the smell! It follows them wherever they go too. Once I transported an inmate from our jail to the hospital because he was having "chest pains". Coming up to the end of my shift my relief walked in. She immediately pulled me out of the room and asked me what "that smell" was. I advised her his socks. I thought she was going to vomit. Got a good laugh out of it for sure! Had to sit on him the next day too.......he had new socks.

In regards to tht ankle monitor situation, I can tell you this much as I was an electronic monitoring program supervisor: If the monitoring program officials or your po felt that you were in violation, you would not likely still be within your house. It is often understood that technology is not perfect, and as long as you have some verification that things are simply not working, it will be alright for you.

Have they changed the battery in the anklet recently? Also, If you have a brick fireplace or if the house you live in is large that may be the problem. The signal can't reach the box and it triggers an alert.

Or live in a mobile home, or live in an area which doesn't have cellular reception (still a few of those) or perhaps even using an internet phone. I have utilized more than a dozen different over the years, and each one has it's positives, as well as its limitations.
