No idea if this has been posted on, searched a few pages back and did not find anything.

We are all into the lastest and greatest gear and try to be ready for anything Murphy can throw at us. What about your family? Are they ready if something happens? Power goes out? Water? Local disaster? Crime? Weather?

Sit down with them and go over some common sense preparedness. Make a plan, and base it on 48-72 hours.

Shelter/safety, Water, Food, and then Comfort. Rule of 3's: 3 hours without shelter, 3 days without water, 3 weeks without food.

the FEMA site(Ready.gov) has good info, as do most states, and preparedness sites on the net.  I am not going to get into bug out bags and all the different topics. Do not buy pre-made kits, you can build them with better needed items and less filler crap for the same price.

Keep them safe!

HAHA no. Just the stuff that seems to happen from time to time. Bad storms, emergencies in the home, crime, etc.

I live at 9000 feet in Colorado, so we are always ready for the worst.  Stockpile can goods and plenty of fire wood for emergencies.

From my experience, LEO's families are usually the most prepared. But it is very important to be prepared. I live in the middle of the desert, so no matter where you go, extra water is important.

I remember keeping 3 gallons of water in my trunk or the back of my SUV at all times while living there.  Fun times for sure.  I really do miss living in AZ.  Ah, but vacation time is coming soon!

My significant other can hold her own, and will trust her with my back all day long.

I noticed no one mentioned cold beer and Butter Brickle ice cream. I almost forgot the cigars.

I'd go with bourbon instead of beer.  Being there may be no refrigeration and all.  Just sayen
