Posted over 2 years ago Cancer, it doesn't discriminate. I have just received the bad news and I'm only 46. I am now waiting to hear when I start my pre-surgery chemo/radio therapy combined. Looking at the timetable I will be having surgery for Christmas. It's really hard on my kids and wife. The doctors are positive about a full recovery so that's encouraging. Some friends are great and some have stayed away, but that's to be expected, they don't know what to say, so they stay away and say nothing. Not sure whether I could be there for someone else were the shoe on the other foot, but I would like to think I would. Just starting the loooong road. |

| Posted over 2 years ago This is NEVER good news. My mother had and passed from colon cancer and therefore I have already started what we all wished that she would have done. The results came back negative for cancer. You do not mention what type of cancer you have been diagnosed with. Regardless, it is a good sign that the doctors believe there will be a full recovery. We here at PL will be praying that the doctors are correct. |

| Posted over 2 years ago Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. I have a rather large bowel cancer but the rest of my organs are CLEAR so we got on to it early - though 8 months ago would have been good!! I hear lots of stories from others who have fought it and won. I have never backed down from a riteous fight and I won't back down to this one. The way I see it there are two choices, hang your head like a scalded dog adn let it win or fight. I'm too damn competitive to hang my head. My family deserve me to be my best and that is what I will be. Thanks again, it sure helps to know people care. |

| Posted over 2 years ago Two down twenty-six to go is an excellent attitude. You sound like you have an athlete's mindset. That will enable you to beat it down and gone forever. |

Prayers from NC times 2............................been there - done that - still doing that......................take my word - ATTITUDE will carry you further than any Doctor - Hospital - Medication - or treatment. ........... You've heard of STOP - DROP- and ROLL...............well STOP sweating life's small stuff...............DROP things from your schedule that are time consuming, stressful, and non fulfilling...........Roll with the punches and ride the tide.............Fill your time with family and things you find enjoyable. GUESS WHAT - that's sound advise for everyone, not just us sick folks. It is what it is.............and.........these things too shall pass. |

| Posted over 2 years ago Brother, my thoughts and prayers are with you. You WILL be victorious in this fight. My father was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer several years ago(going on 10 years). He's still with us. Positive mindset and support are keys here. Somewhere a true believer is training with one goal in mind...to kill you...will you be ready when you meet? The comments in this statement in no way reflect to opinions or official standing of any agency, person, or entity other than the person who posted it. In other words mind your own business. |

| Posted over 2 years ago Guys, your support is truly humbling. I KNOW I will get over this, because you are all with me. Everyone at the hospital is FANTASTIC. I have absolutely no doubt that they are there to beat this with me and do all they can to see me through. God bless and thank you all. |

I had 45 xray treatments. one a day, 5 days a week for 9 weeks. I was fortunate and did not have to have chemo. The worst part, for me, was the fatigue after about 20 treatments. I had one small spot of radiation burn but it was just uncomfortable, never painful. I just kept telling people; "it could be worse". Like you, my mindset was positive and I just fought my way through it. I'm confident you'll fight your way through it as well. PM's are always open if you would ever like to talk private. I'm starting my 3rd year after treatment. YOu'll get there too.

| Posted over 2 years ago Just to update my treatment. I have just TWO WEEKS (10 treatments) to go!! Only one side effect is evident and that is that when I go to the potty - about 6-8 times a day - it feels like I had a "ringburner" curry last night. Still, a small price to pay for another 40+ years of life. Thank you again every one for your support. I too will be able to add teh title SURVIVOR to my resume'. '. |
