Posted almost 6 years ago I carried one back when I was in the patrol division, but didn't aggressively enforce tint laws.

Posted almost 6 years ago They are a useful tool against these gang-bangers. Walking up to a car where they can see you but you cannot see them is hairy to the max and for safety reasons either should not be allowed or the officers should be allowed to make a felony stop when stopping someone with those windows, even if it is running a stop sign, traffic light. minor speeding, wherever. Now I have also seen it used to harass people for no reason. I saw a damn DOT officer check a bunch of dump trucks in Florida and write tickets for it including one to a truck that had 'factory' tint! There are some legit reasons to have dark tint, especially in places like Fl, AZ, NM, TX, etc.

Posted almost 6 years ago I have used the tint meters before. It is a tool to have and I only used when someone didn't believe their tint was too dark.

Posted almost 6 years ago Don't get me wrong, here in GA tint violations are pretty kosher PC in order to conduct a traffic stop on that car that your gut tells you just "needs to be stopped". I've always cautioned rookies, however, that there's a fine line between such things, and that dirty word...."profiling".

Posted almost 6 years ago I find tinted windows to be an issue for officer saftey. Like Robo said...some states have a legit reason to have them. Driving hear in chicago with 5% tint all the way around will most likely end you up in vehicle search lol.

Posted almost 6 years ago I only use the window tint as my PC when I really need to find out who is in the vehicle for a case or something along those lines, otherwise I rarely use it. I've only used my tint meter about two times. I don't like using bullshit PC for traffic stops, so like I said I rarely use this technic.

| Posted almost 6 years ago LOL, H.O.T uhmmm 5% is awful dark duh... Even in my state MPV’s can only have 15% so yea just spray paint your windows black if you want to get pulled over... “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent”

Posted almost 6 years ago I got pulled over for speeding in my Silverado when I was still a teenager and had the LEO have me step out of the truck, roll my windows up ( they were down ), then check the visibility and add that to my ticket. They registered 32%. TN law said I could have 35%. He then handed me a razorblade and told me to take it off.

Posted almost 6 years ago Here in Mississippi, the law used to read that if you have sufficent enough vision to obtain a D.L. you should be able to see through the tint from the outside. Easy p.c., right? It was changed a couple of years ago to having to check it with a meter. My Department won't buy them. I've got "dark" tint on the side windows of my truck for my family's safety. If I want an insoection sticker I have to pull it off. Guess what? Come October will be two years since that sticker was valid! Beware the fury of a patient man!

Posted almost 6 years ago WE have one and I carry it in my car everyday, and use it regularly. Great tool for PC in stopping cars in our low income/ drug infested area.

Posted almost 6 years ago I actually dident know that tinted windows was PC. I thought you had to wait for a traffic violation to pull a vehicle over. Thats a great tool then.

Posted almost 6 years ago Uh-huh...unlawful window tint is plenty of PC. When I was on motors, I kept a small 3"x3" piece of factory auto glass in my pocket. It was court 'certified'. I didn't need a meter. I just held up my little sample of legal tint up to whatever window was in question and showed the driver the difference. Never lost a case. The sample piece of auto class was rounded smooth on the edges and fit neatly in my pocket.

Posted almost 6 years ago Don't have tint meters yet, but the dept is working on that. "It would be better for one to have a stone tied around their neck and thrown into the sea, than to cause a child to stumble." "Well-behaved women rarely make history"
