Your ability to write is extremely important for many reasons and check this link for the rest of your question

Honesty, Intregity, Professionalism.  The ability to write well and the ability to translate what you observe into written form in a clear, concise, and logical manner is extremely important.

There are way more than 3 qualities that make up a good Officer. There are in fact, countless qualities, Including the ones Cass mentioned, Puncuality, patience, compassion, a sense if humor. Common sense, confidence, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. I can't say that any one quality is more desirable than another, nor can I say that lacking some of these qualities makes anyone less capable of being an officer. Lots of times you'll see officers who don't do well on a Medical Call (assist EMS), but they're the best Motor Vehicle Crash Investigator in the county. It all depends on your niche. It's up to you to find out where that niche is.

On the matter of writing, well Grammar and spelling are two of the things that will get your butt in a sling in a heartbeat. At least where I come from. I would say, if you're looking be an LEO (which it appears you are) get as much education as you can, and stay fit. Those are the 2 things that kills most peoples chances. And of course, keep your noise clean.

Also, I forgot to add, punctuation saves lives. Example:

"Let's eat, Grandma!"

or

"Lets eat Grandma!"

You decide.
