Posted almost 3 years ago I am currently enrolled to complete by BA of criminolgy with an imphasis on forensic psycology. I have a steller resume which includes a variable background such as business owner, director, and case admin for the US Federal Courts. With having that diversity and knowledge, I still find myself wanting to be an Investigative Officer at any level. My question is... Should I pursue my BA and attend the academy later? Or is that really neccesary because if I have the abilities and work my way up, does it really matter if you have a college degree in criminology. Or do I just need to focus on police academy for now? My ultimate goal is getting to the place where I want to be, I just want to be on the boat that will get me there faster. In my opinion, any career in Law Enforcement is ideal for me, but I am not getting any younger... now is the time. What route would be the best to take? Even with a BA, I still would have to prove myself to be a great investigator by patroling for atleast 1 yr.... right? |

| Posted almost 3 years ago In this economic climate, having your degree could only help you. Nowadays, because a police department may only be able to afford to hire one to two recruits (maybe), they can afford to be real picky as to the type of recruit they will hire. |
