Bump

Bump.

I have recently become more involved with policelink, meaning reading, responding and learning from it, and came across this post. Due to several recent developments I have found myself lacking the spark that I used to have when it came to doing my best. I have learned several things about myself after I started in this profession and I can only say after true reflection they are for the better. After reading this post and learning from it I can honestly say, as a younger generation LEO, that I needed a reminder of some things that gave me so much joy in this profession. For that reason I will say courage:

Courage is looking deep within yourself and having the fortitude to admit that there are things that can be done better. Things that you need to change or improve upon and freely admitting you are not perfect, you do not know what is best all of the time, and accepting help and guidance without bitterness. It is putting your vest and uniform on and walking out of the door to face the unknown and provide a safer community for not only your family but for those that cannot provide it for themselves. It is the willingness to run toward the danger while everyone else runs away and not looking down upon them for doing so. LEO's are a special breed because they embody the courage required to say enough is enough when they see injustice and they are willing to give all if required to ensure the safety of those around them.

Thank you all for your inspiring words. From a younger LEO to those that have walked my path before me, I salute you and thank you for setting the standard so high.
