Posted almost 6 years ago The Montgomery Police Department is mourning the loss of a second officer in less than a year. Black wreaths were placed on the front doors and black ribbons have been placed at the back entrance to Montgomery police headquarters in remembrance of Officer Robert Edward McCrory, who died in a car crash late Friday. Lt. Mark Drinkard, a Montgomery police spokesMan, said the fatal wreck occurred at 11:05 p.m. at Old Selma Road and Hunter Loop Road. According to a news release, McCrory, 24, was pronounced dead at the scene when his 2005 Dodge Ram collided with a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier. Police investigators said the driver of the Cavalier ran a red light at the intersection as McCrory was traveling westbound on Old Selma Road. McCrory's vehicle left the roadway after the impact and struck a utilty pole. The Cavalier traveled 70 yards into a nearby field. Micah Joel Day was listed as the driver of the Cavalier. He was taken to Baptist Medical Center South with injuries that were not lifethreatening. The Alabama State Trooper's Homicide Unit will be investigating the incident. At this time, law enforcement officials believe alcohol was involved, but the investigation is continuing. McCrory served with the Montgomery Police Department for one year. He was off-duty at the time of the accident. He is Montgomery's 19th traffic fatality of the year. |

| Posted almost 6 years ago well all that we can do is pray for his family and just think of all the good times that any of us that knew him had of him. My husband went to the classes with him and they were best of friends. i know that if my husband toke it hard then every one else that knew him has too. People like the guy that killed him need to be locked up for life. That is all i have to say about it. |

| Posted almost 6 years ago Someday my wish will come true. Drunk Driving, first offense. 10 year loss of license (no provisionals), $10,000 dollar fine and 1 year in jail. Our "tough" drunk driving laws are not working! These drunks continue to take innocent lives and walk away unscathed. It has to end.

| Posted almost 6 years ago Drunks never seem to get injuried. I was injuried in 1996 (on duty) with a DUI driver. He didn't get a scratch. I fractured a femur, hip and nearly bled to death. I ended up having 4 additional surgeries. The dui / marijuana driver, NOT A DAMN SCRATCH... |
