Posted about 3 years ago Hi everyone, looking for some feedback, suggestions, whatever else. 45 y/o male considering career change into some form of Law Enforcement or armed security. HS grad, college seminary degree, was concerned if there was military-like weight and fitness pre-conditions before entering into LE field. Not really considering being a regualr city police officer, mabe too old for that, but something else like armed guard, parole/probation, private security/bodyguard, bounty, airport police, college campus police, hospital police currently earning $45,000 annually with state job as prison chaplain, maxed out there, no advancements in job title. can't really take too much of a pay cut if at all, if I switch into new career path. thanks, ismael |

| Posted about 3 years ago Welcome to Policelink from KS. You are extremely unlikely to find any security job that pays near what you are making now, at least starting off. |

| Posted about 3 years ago Ditto Casscocop. Ditto. Stay put 45 grand a year is respectable. Armed security is 10 to 12 bucks an hour. You are not to old for LE. |

| Posted about 3 years ago I don't think 45 years old is too old to move into LE. I work with a guy right now that is 55 years and is applying to police departments. Patience is a virtue

| Posted about 3 years ago in my state and area armed security guards usually take $20 hour and up that's why I been thinking Armed Guard, now doing P/T unarmed weekends just to get in the field Ocampo, entry level C/O position at my prison would mean significant pay cut for me at this point. how typical are age, weight / fitness requirements in LE? |

| Posted about 3 years ago Welcome to PL from NJ. 45 is not too old. You have to look a little harder than most others who are younger. Good luck.
