I like playing the Police Trivia question game, located on the home page. Some of the questions are thought provoking. Occasionally they are funny. Recently however, some of the questions are just ridiculous. Some of them are just plain stupid. I wanted to start a thread because I'm going to start pointing out some of the really poorly written questions. Among those I'll include questions where the correct answer, is strictly the opinion of the question writer. Having been a course writer and working in curriculm development, I'll also add a little help on occasion. a true/false question is generally a statement, not a question. For example; Apples only come in red.  I would hope everyone plays along. Perhaps we can better the quality of the questions, particularly of late.

edited so I wouldn't look like a complete moron, only the partial moron I really am.

My question is, are you going to post links to the questions (in question so to speak) or something else?  I assume you mean questions like "my roomate has chron's disease and is depressed, can he still be in SWAT?"

No sir. I'm referring to the Police Trivia Game on the home page. I think the questions on "Can I still be a cop" are covered in several different forums and threads. I'm just amazed at some of the questions in the Trivia game. I've reported a few because the correct answer was either not among the choices or was not the correct answer. Sometimes though the wording of the questions themselves are just laughable, soooooooo, in that vain, I wanted to laugh, along with others that might want to participate, publically at them.

I noticed that too DFrost, plus there's some awful typos, which is irritating to me, sorry....  I have contributed several questions to the trivia game.  Sorry to be cynical but I've also noticed some lame questions where the answers are given away in regards to points.

I quit playing the trivia questions game for there were just too many questions that were, as others put it  "lame" or the answers were opinion not technically correct.

Can I post a reply here and still play the trivia game?

A:Yes

B:NO

C:Both

D:The whole thing is lame and I'm an idiot.

For PL to be a "professional site, items like the trivia game need to either be cleaned up and policed(pun intended) regularly or disgarded. It is rediculous.

I will have to agree that most of the trivia questions are dumber than whale &^$t.  Really, how are we suppose to know what year the police chief of some small po dunk town was originally hired.  I do think the trivia questions should be screened/policed first before posting them.  I love playing the trivia game, heck I would even volunteer to screen the trivia questions.

PLEASE know I wasn't dissing any members, especially the LEOs.  I just think that the trivia game should be more "professional".  Some of those questions are just too silly, but that's JMHO.

I've done pretty well a time or two with the trivia questions.  OMG, I'm such a hypocrite because I just realized I had posted a lame question in there, but just one and I've seen more lame than mine lol  Who's going to police the game? I know Sarge has a lot on his plate and I'd be happy to volunteer but I feel that a LEO would be better suited for that.

Great comments, so far. Of course, the questions have slowed down a little since I posted this. There was one that was border line, but I let it slide. ha ha. I don't want to be the Simon Cowell of Police Trivia. But geez Louise, sometimes I almost get embarrassed for the writer of some of those questions. By the way Sgt405, I can only answer your question from my perspective - - - - D.

The latest question, although I do believe the author was being tongue-in-cheek, something like:

Are you tired of yes and no questions with true and false answer. then he/she gives two choices

A. True (pick this one)

B. False.

I'm giving the author the benefit of the doubt, it was meant to be a joke.

With the GLOCK PISTOLS, if the trigger spring breaks or is removed, CAN THE FIREARM STILL BE FIRED?

  • YES!

  • You should always treat any firearm as if it were loaded?

A good example of a pretty bad question. The question had nothing to do with how to handle a weapon. The question specifically asks if it will still function if the trigger spring is broken or removed. The author gives the correct answer as how a weapon should be treated.

In Kosciusko MS the police and sheriff departments are:

Unless we are from Kosciusko, how in the world are we supposed to know this. I mean it's no big deal, but do you really need 10 points that badly? yes, I did get it wrong.

A question posted on 5/29/10 asks something like it's a misdemeanor to drive in CA with a BAC of:

.08

.10

.12

wouldn't all three of them be in violation? So actually there are three correct answers.

I hate the questions about personal lives. How am I suppose to know when you graduated college? Or how am I suppose to know what month you finished the police acadmey..im also not a fan of non-related police questions like..what highschool football team went to state in Oklahoma in 2005.

An "either or" question with a yes or no answer. Do you eat corn horizontally or vertically can not be answered with yes/no.

Todays question about the highest paid female personality is wrong. Oprah remains the highest paid female. Judge Judy does come in a distant second.

They are all correct if they are all misdemeanors... maybe a bac of .10 and .12 are felonies?  maybe.... just saying.  Someone from Cali can answer that one.

Sour Gummi Worms.......yo yo

  • have 140 calories per 5 worms

  • are sour because of fumaric, citric or other acid additives

  • made with either bovine or porcine gelatine are not suitable for vegetarians

  • all the above are correct

Seriously, I could care less... Where is the "Police Trivia" part?  LOL

yo yo Thank you for pointing out that question. Gummis indeed. There has also been a couple of state specific questions lately.  I guess I could take the time to look them up on the old world wide --- but I just go ahead and guess. ha ha

I don't mind some of the state specific questions so long as they are "POLICE related" questions, it's the gummi type questions that irritate me.  LOL  I could hit the inappropriate button on them... couldn't I?
