2 things actually. Lets see how far this goes.

First of all, I would like to have a way to remove locked and Vaulted Topics from my Forums page. I know I've beat this horse to death, but I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who feels this way.

Also an area on your page to Blog. I hear Blogging is the In thing nowadays. I'm not exactly sure what the technical aspects of these addition swould be, but I think it would be a welcome addition to PL and something you don't have to use if you dont want to.

Isn't your "Comment Wall" almost the same things as a blog?  About the only difference I can see is that there is no way for someone to respond to a particular entry on your wall and keep it in the same "group" as the original post.

Well not exactly. The Comment wall is for other folks to leave you greeting and messages. A blog can be rather lengthy. A lot of people use a blog to talk about their day, or tell a story, or just to vent. You could do it in the threads I suppose, but at some point it would kinda clog the whole thing up I think. And of course an area to comment on the Blogs as well would be cool.

I agree with both. It would be nice to get those locked ones of the forum page. I am a little OCD. The blog would be nice too. That way you could leave your intro general and not have to update it everytime something changes.

Also, I think it would be cool to have a chat option too. The email way is nice, but it would be nice to have it instantly. That would probably be a big undertaking.

I think he means not so much a Chat room, but an Instant messenger type deal, Kinda Like Facebook. I'm not sure what the technical aspects of that are either, but we might want to start slow and give the site a little more time to grow and mature.

Yeah, just the one on one back and forth IM. Sorry for the confusion.

Ok, let's see here:

1. Removing forum discussions: Try this: Hit the "Forums tab; from there, go to the small "Preferences" tab and hit that one; go to the bottom of that page and locate "Forum Preferences" and click on it; scroll down to the bottom of the page and locate "You are watching the following topics" and make your preference there. To hit the Stop Watching option will remove those nasty and offending Vaulted topics. Vaulted Topics? For BSL? Nah, couldn't be..... impossible, right?

2. There has been some discussion about a link or some kind of area where people can connect up in a kind of more immediate time line. The chatroom experience of a decade ago has kinda faded and IM's are meager. But, creative minds are white boarding this type of addition for the site. Keep in mind that our techs keep up with over 13 internet communities.

Now, don't set your stop watch to these comments. Things change on the internet, sometimes moment by moment. PL tries to stay stablized with talented overworked techs. But, big new additions need lots of work and testing. In the meantime, like has been mentioned, keep at least one pencil within reach. I hear Atari 2600 is making a comeback. 1977 was a good year.....

That only works for topics people actually "watched"--I don't know that a lot of people use that option anyway. I think what BSL is talking about is the topics that show up in the list of "Topics I've Posted In With New Replies" that get vaulted. They end up staying there forever with no current way to remove them. Heck--sometimes they have new replies simply because a mod replies "Vaulted on XX/XX/XX...etc" and then vaults it. Your busy techs would need to change the Vault command to set a flag that the "Topics I've Posted In With New Replies" page could check and skip (don't display) that topic. No need to make a tool for users to do spring cleaning.

 You can remove them, I do it all the time.  Just follow theSarge's instructions and they will be gone.
