Fort Leonard Wood, MI, back in 1996. I was introduced to insects that I only thought existed in Sci-Fi.

I was born off-post......... when my Father was stationed at Fort Dix in the 50's.

And, lucky me, The US Army sent me there.... for basic..... when I joined up in the "Be All You Can Be in the US Army" in 1976.'

Must have missed this thread (lol)

Basic Training: Ft Knox, Ky - June 1978

AIT: Ft Benning, Ga - August, 1978 (and I gotta agree with BSL: Hottest part of Hell)

Oddly enough, while at Ft Benning (Harmony Church), I was in the same set of Barracks that my Father was in while there for Officer School......... in 1942 (They were built as temporary billets during WWII). Dad's was on the end of the row, mine was right next to it. I was back there in 2007, just visiting. I went to take photos of the barracks and they were gone   (discovered the same thing at Ft Knox - Basic Training barracks are gone).

Ahhhh yes. Good Ole Harmony Church. Only those that have been to Benning can know how those two words make you feel.
