Prison Picnics?

Posted about 3 years ago I was watching a tv show on FX called Justified with my roommate earlier tonight. In the episode two prisoners managed to escape at a prison sponsored picnic they were having outside prison grounds. Do some prisons really let their prisoners go on guarded picnics outside prison? My roommate said that his father had these "picnics" at the federal prison he worked at. Is my roommate full of it? |

Yes, I understand that it is a tv show, and that everything on tv isn't completely realistic, but just because it is on tv does not make it unrealistic, right? |

| Posted about 3 years ago You watch those types of shows and the chances are probably slim. I like shows like Dateline and channels such as ID. I find more "realistic" stuff.

| Posted about 3 years ago 2 hours? I thought it took 1 hour, withou commercials and using Tivo to skip the commercials, it should only take like 45 mins to solve crimes. 2 hours would be way too long Shock. LOL |

| Posted about 3 years ago I love taping shows so that I can watch them later and fast forward through 20 minutes of commercials.

I don't like commercials either, but does anyone know the answer to the original question? |

Ummmm.... not me! I'm a Trooper, not a turn key! Go to the corrections page and see if you can rattle somebody awake over there. |

| Posted about 3 years ago No. Prisons do not let their prisoners go on Picnics. They're in Prison. Not Day Camp. Most of the Crap that comes on TV (COPS, Police Women of _______ County, Speeders) is all garbage. You will learn to hate that crap once you make it into LE and have been there for a while. It's Like watching people make fun of you to your face when you lay your @$$ on the line everyday. And that's the "reality" shows. The fiction is even worse. |

| Posted about 3 years ago They actually do! They are put to work by picking up the trash on the side of the roads. The food is found back inside the prison after a hard day's work. That's the prisoners' picnic. A bit of a twist on the traditional one.

| Posted about 3 years ago Ummm its a tv show........ I highly doubt any institution allows that. Mine does, but its not really off our grounds , but the inmates that live out there are just outside the walls and are level 2 inmates and are getting ready to go to ccc's |
