I know we're not supposed to say "Slow" or "Quiet" especially on the radio because of the whole superstion thingy. But I have found myself saying it over and over, hoping a call will come. I know that it is bad, but it is getting pretty boring. We usually keep pretty busy, but for the past few months, we haven't had much. Is it just where I'm at, or are there other places in Montana that are experiencing a good spell?

Montana..Great Skiing and lots of women, right ?

On one of my trips to Big Sky I asked the Bar lady "where are all the women? " She responded with " This is Montana, there are 2 kinds of people who come here . The first is families who come for the pristine snow trails, no wait lift lines, quiet beauty of the mountains. The second kind are like you AND YOUR GANG OF 5, looking for the UN skied virgin snow and jumping off cliffs higher than skyscrapers. AS  for the women? SHE JUST LEFT!

Cheer up , things get better after the season is over...

Sorry scurge, I was trying to get calls for ME by saying quiet. Sorry that you got the brunt of it. It's my friday today, so I hope the week stays the same. Usually here in Cut Bank, we still get plenty of calls. We have a pretty heavy call load in the summer, but we still have stuff to do in the winter. Oh, well. I will just pretend that it is my policing that is causing the decline of crime.

I hear you there. I had to use a woman's garden hose once to spray off a meth head who pooped himself. Luckily, he got into an ambulance, not my patrol car.

Well, this heat wave sure did wake up the criminals. Man, I have been pretty busy the past few days. The funnest was the mile long blood trail I followed to find the house where a kid punched windows. That sure was fun!

I'm well aware that Montana is cold, but to what degree does it get hot?

Our summers are actually very nice. It doesn't usually get past 90 degrees, usually mid 80's. It is dry, so we don't have to deal with the stuffy humidity that I have experienced down south. It can get up to 100, but it is very rare.

Glad your call volume has been somewhat slow, enjoy it while you can !   Our call volume has been a tad bizarre the past few weeks, call volume has increased and not by one or two,  been getting for and five in at a time, which is unusual most of the time ...  granted for some agencies, larger agencies, with more than one or two patrols out there, that is not a lot, it is a walk in the park, routine call volume, but for small department, tell the radio room, "Just stack 'em up, we'll get to them when we can."

It was  busy before you got here! It's your fault! Just kidding. I'll try to be patient and wait. But night shifts get boring when you drive around our town 20 times and don't see anybody.

Well, this winter is nothing like the last. I read this post and laughed, wishing it was quiet. I guess I am just a complainer. The past two weeks I have had 2 dui's and 6 pfma's. I've had several other small calls, too, which gets you pretty busy when you're the only one on. I am alone on duty two of my four night shifts. That's when things start to get busy. Oh, well. It makes the shift go by much faster.

I know the feeling, sometimes I loved nights  being alone other times just too damned busy and too much happening for one... Enjoy the heat wave !!

PS.. We never did find out where that 1 woman went  !!!

Well, I dug up an old post. The heat wave was a while ago. It is pretty cold today. Montana women are pretty blunt sometimes. Maybe you could go back to the resort and ask the bar lady if she came back yet.

We are experiencing unseasonably cold weather so far this year too. Hope this is not a sign of what the year will bring..

It was actually quite funny , she had quite a sense of humor as a barmaid would need. and quite frankly during ski season I wouldn't have any strength to deal with a woman after skiing !! But I still wonder..where did that 1 woman go LOL

I always loved a relaxing hour at Huntley Lodge with a B&B after dinner in front of the largest fireplace I have ever seen...Big Sky by the way. I wish I could bring my telescope with me on those trips , what a sky

People think that I am nuts. I live in Montana, and I hate skiing. I have done it twice. I prefer walking or driving. The sky is great here. People imagine Montana being pretty boring because our best claim is our "big sky".

Unless your in the western part of the state, i tend to think more of hunting and fishing in MT, rather thatn skiing.  While I like to fish, i have never gotten into fishing for ice "ice fishing'.

I am in the western part of Montana. I don't ice fish either. That just sounds cold. I also don't fly fish. It takes too many to fill me up.

I know how you feel. How strange we are as a species.. I grew up in NY and never visited the Statue of Liberty until I moved away.. It's a strange strange world we live in..........I can't seem to fill up on flies either, but they are tasty!LOL

I do better with those fly strips than I do with a small hook on a line. They may be hard to pull off the strip, but you sure do catch more!

I've acutally never tried ice fishing. The concept sounds cold, but I have no experience with it. One of my friends loves it. He's been trying to get me to go out ice fishing with him for two years now. Maybe I'll give it a chance.
