| Posted about 3 years ago Navila,
I suggest you continue to express interest through the ride-along program. Our department allows ride-alongs and I always suggest applicants do that. I would stop down to the department and also show that you are eager to get hired. A lot of our officers get hired after attending a reserve school and working a little while as a reserve. A hire is a big investment and working as a reserve allows the department, as well as the applicant, to see if the two of you will mesh. Good luck and don't give up! |

| Posted about 3 years ago A lot of departments in Colorado are testing and establishing a hiring list. However; it doesn't mean they are hiring officers. More and more departments are laying off right now. Colorado Springs PD is talking about laying of 150 officers. I don't think they will, but they just cut services in a major way. They are not even responding to misdemeanor calls, unless they can show pattern type crimes. Does that ever send out a message to the bad guys. An answer to your question... There is nothing you can do to speed up the process. Sometimes it takes over a year to get on a department, if they are taking on new people. |

| Posted about 3 years ago I'm currently in the process with the APD. Last notice I got said they contsructed the PEL and that there is no set date for further testing though this list is suppose to be used for the next couple academies. You can't really speed it up. Do your ride-along, mine was a blast. |

You're right, it was not obvious. The OP stated he graduated from the Aurora Police academy, When I wrote APD I figured he knew what I meant. Based on the title and him talking about Aurora, I'm assuming he was talking about the Aurora Police Department in Aurora, Colorado. |

I assumed (which can make a azz of u & me) that he was a self sponser, since agencies usually won't sent you to the academy before hiring and he had just attended that particluar academy. |

Haha, I knew that was coming. I think he knew what I meant. He was not specific in saying which Dept he was applying to, but he mentioned Aurora. I can only "assume" it was Aurora CO PD. My comment was toward the OP, I think he will know what APD I am talking about. Sorry for the confusion though. |

| Posted about 3 years ago Just having a little fun, just 5 miles south of where i work is another small town, Adrian, so you couldn't use the term APD with two "A" cities so close together. I have actually gotten clear to Adrian while chasing down speeders. |

I originally heard assume divided up like I did on "Benny Hill" an old British slapstick comedy show, I sure hated to see it go off the air. Consider what you can do with therapist "the rapist", another word split from Benny Hill, in one skit it was painted on a door under the doctor name and split on 2 lines. |

Haha. They did therapist on SNL a while back too. That was funny. I'll have to look into this "Benny Hill". Uh oh. I think I gave you a clue as to about how old I might be. |

I think even before either Benny Hill or SNL, it was done on an old TV show called "The Odd Couple" |

The TV show from 1970 - 75 with Tony Randall as Felix Unger and Jack Klugman as Oscar Madison. In the episode, Felix is questioning a woman on the witness stand who just started to answer his question by saying, "I assumed" when Felix interupts her and goes to the blackboard: Felix Unger: [to woman on witness stand] "Ah... you *assumed*. My dear, you should never *assume*. You see, when you *assume* [writes the word "assume" on a blackboard] , you make an *ass*... out of *u*... and *me*." |

Footie PJs...Ha! You are heavily misinformed. Everyone knows I wear a snuggie when I watch Benny Hill. Not really me. |
