First of all you said, "im 23 married for three years with 3 children, ive been physically, emotionally and sexually abused by my husband"...right? Well why the heck are you STILL with this POC? Get rid of him, and your being out of shape will start turning around for the better! Do you realize that living with someone like this is unhealthy and unsafe for you and the kids! If he is what you say he is, then why would you stay in that kind of relationship..Listen, forget the wanting to be a detective so you can help others that are in your situation...YOU have to take care of YOUR problems first! Think about it! Help yourself, then you can go from there....sorry this sounds harsh but its reality.

Stick to it .....don't back down...one load of crap off your shoulders, so instead of putting you are married..I think I would have said, separated! lol Thats admitting to taking a step in the direction of ridding yourself of this POC. I wish you the best, just take care of you and those 3 little babies. This is the kind of person you want to have target practice with...and he be the target!

There are all kinds of workouts for you ...first of all start walking..then do it lots...Dance to music..lots of those workout videos...floor exercises, situps, yoga, the list is on going..I know, I have done many and lost weight, and keep in shape...

Good luck God bless

Take control of your habits. I'm trying to not sound like a dork but your body is the one thing you have absolute control over. You have to commit to changing. You have to live it. There are a thousand programs out there. All the non-chemical-surgical methods of getting in shape are based on the basic premis that you have to exercise more and eat less to lose fat and gain muscle. If you exercise alot you have to eat alot to build muscle. What you eat is important.  Start slow, walk up the stairs instead of the elevator. Ride a bike once or twice a week. Ramp it up from there. Start running up the stairs, riding 10 miles instead of 2. Change it up every week. Muscle confusion is effective. JMO. Good luck.

I agree with Katz! I was under the impression that you were still married to your husband just going by what was stated on your profile. I was about to respond accordingly when you stated that you and he were not together. It's good to hear that you've taken a first step to making your home a safer environmnet by getting rid of  him.

Which ever exercise plan you decide to follow, be sure you use a diet that will give you that "fuel" you'll need to sustain a workout.

Getting fit, especially if you're seriously out of shape, is a slow process that takes will and dedication (I know from personal experience). Once you start do NOT stop. FIrst off, do some research...you can start here: http://policelink.monster.com/police-fitness

The simple things are what you need to start with. Stretches and easy cardio (you can do a google search for excercises). Start taking long walks, and slowly (within weeks) move to jogging. Get on a treadmill if you'd rather not be out in public. It doesn't take a lot of money to find what you're looking for. Do you have a YMCA in your area? If so, check them out. For a very low membership fee, you have access to modern equipment and pools. Also they usually have a personal training program as well as group sessions you can participate in with people in various stages of fitness to meet your comfort zone. Some YMCA's also have seperate workout areas that are female only, if you are concerned about that. Do your research, start off slow, and check out your local resources.

This is PoliceLink, but that doesn't mean everybody on this site is trustworthy. Exhaust every option before trying to find strangers on the internet (unless they are a professional personal trainer) to come help you out...you never know who is out here. Good luck.

Use your TV !!! PBS runs yoga programs in the early am, Fittv (on your expanded basic cable and sat. tv channels) runs different types of exercises all day. I have to get up at a ridiculous hour of the morning to have any time for myself so after I drink my coffee, I turn on the TV, find something and either stretch or do some light cardio to get the blood flowing. Then I get me ready for work and get the kiddo up and get her ready for the bus. Like anyother working mom, we make the routine fit what has to be done that day !! If you want light weights for arm work, grab a couple of cans of something out of your pantry and use them.

Best thing to do is throw on cartoons, give the kiddies a snack, and go to your room and do push ups, sit ups, jumping jacks, and jog in place. No one will see you, and it's free. :)

So many people (females mainly) overlook the most important training for weight loss, and that is weight training.

Everybody male / female should weight train to some extent.  For one, it is not only a very high calorie burning exercise, but even when you're not working out your muscle is burning calories to repair themselves.. Think of it as an extended bonus to your previous workout.

Just be as active as possible and always take the more physical way. Ex. stairs instead of elevator, park further away in parking lots..... One thing that most people overlook is diet, there are many websites that will give you free diet advice and also programs to help you keep track of it. Free workout info too, w/ the internet you can get a countless amount of info for free. Go to places like Craigslist.com and see if you can find free or really cheap workout equipment. Close to 90% of the people who buy workout equipment never use it for more then a few weeks, so it just collects dust  and people are glad to get it out of thier house. Do yourself a favor and start out easy, a lot people stop working out early because it becomes a chore, you need to enjoy it to keep doing it. Start out twice a week for a couple weeks, then 3 times a week for a couple of weeks, then finally get to everyother day and by that time you will be feeling a whole lot better. Last thing is it could take up to 6 weeks to see significant results, just like you didn't gain the extra weight in a few weeks you can not lose it  in a few weeks and still be healthy!

I work out at the gym but I also work out at home. Home in the morning, gym at night after work. Wake up walk twice around my neighborhood which I clocked at three miles. Walk at a fast brisk pace, non of that leisure stuff. Pretty soon it will be so easy you can start runnin 1/4 of the distance then 1/2. Afterwards I take out the ab roller and get to crunching. 150 in the evening, 150 at night before bed. I bought a set of dumbells at wal-mart for $20 they were on sale. 25 on each weight so I curl 150 times on each arm in sets of 25. Pretty soon after about a month this becomes to easy so I shock my body and add more reps or walk/run longer distance. At the beginning I had to have a enegy boost so I started using a weight loss supplement. It curbed my appetite also. I ended up dropping 20 pounds in two weeks, and im still going.

I have been abused many times........by boyfriends and my ex husband..............but, came to understand it is a co dependency problem.  You need not only to exercise your body, but, find a group of WOMEN who are like you............I never did, and still have mental and emotional  scars.  Then, lots of exercise plans out there, but, they will do you no good if you don't burn more calories than you take in.  good luck to you............take time for you and your babies!

if your kids are old enough(to walk/run) then take them to the park with you, do the running/walking with them. It wears them out, plus I would imagine it would be a great way to bond and have something to workout for. Plus, get the kiddos into the pushups/situps. It would be great for everyone's helth. Now if I could do this everyday, I would be alot happier emotionally/phsyically.

This is seriously the best way to start. When you are able to complete these exercises and need more challenge then checkout personal trainers. Like previously mentioned search the internet about exercises you can conduct at home or in the office. Just some suggestions.

I found what you eat is problem with weight gain and a need for working out every other day. Three meals day and snack in between health. Morning meal is most important to get your system going oats, flax seed , cereal high in fiber, lunch chicken or fish , veg greens thermo start-up, dinner lot veg and lean white meat. Remove the cheese, milk, butter , sugar, bread all fatting foods.  Use soymilk I drink extra vanile Silk, water should be at room temp or green tea.  Cold water slows down digestion. Weight training is good help get the system going even after you stop working out muscle still working after gone bed,  Cardo walk, swimming and biking work heart sleep at lease 8 hours.  I loss 50 lbs and 4 ins off my waist doing this... You have do for yourself it also will help mental with stress and well Being.

My simple advice is mind over matter. If is your dream to become a law enforcement officer you can do it. I didn't have to do any PT in the academy because I became certifiable with 14 week program with a technical college. However I can relate to getting in to shape when I went to basic training for the Army in '06. I remember it being a rude awakeing for me. I remember doing push ups and sit ups and everything in between until the training bay floor was a pool of sweat. I kept pushing myself and thinking I can do it. Self-motavation is important and if you think you can't do it I will tell you now that you will fail. I promise you give it your all start small and keep building with a postive attitude and pushing yourself little by little in due time you feel and see a difference.
