Posted over 5 years ago Hello everybody! I already know some of you on this website but I never officially introduced myself. Ive been a member of the site since July but just recently started getting involved in discussions and really exploring and finding out what this site has to offer . I have to say there really is some great people here! Sooo for starters, my name is Sara and Im 20 y/o. I am a Police, Fire, and EMS dispatcher at the Oakwood Village Police Dept. (Its near Cleveland, Ohio for those who are unsure exactly where that city is) I will have been dispatching for 1 year on Feb. 8th... YAY!! My department is rather small but a good place to learn the basics so that I can move to an even bigger dept. Which I am actually in the process of doing now. I really truly love my job and realized when I started dispatching that Law Enforcement is my calling in life. Eventually I would like to get out on the road and experience the job from the other end of the radio. I am a very happy person whether its the beginning or the end of my shift, although I have been told by some LEO's that if I stay in this field of work my attitude will totally change and I am not going to be the nicest person anymore. I guess I will find out how true that is. Im very easy to get along with and to talk to. I also work midnight shift 11p-7a Sunday-Thursday which can get boring at times. I enjoy meeting new people and am always up for a conversation or a good laugh. I look forward to meeting all of you. Stay safe and remember if life ever gets you down just do what I do... SMILE!! :) |

| Posted over 5 years ago Sara-----------Hello and welcome to "the link". Take my word for it -- there will be many changes in your future. Most of them from the normal growth, maturity, and aging thing. Your Law Enforcement Career will only temper the changes that you endure along the way. You will see, hear, and experience things that will affect you, your judgment, your outlook, your attitude and soooooo on!!! If you stay in Law Enforcement long enough, you will become suspicious, cynical, and maybe even short on tolerance. But always remember that you may have developed these traits along life's journey without having ever served in Law Enforcement. So to make the long long story a bit shorter-- go for it, don't look back, and give whatever you do your best effort. Life is too short, so live it big - live it large - take advantage of every opportunity afforded to you - but most of all (HAVE FUN DOING IT). Kevin Lamm Raleigh, N.C. It is what it is.............and.........these things too shall pass. |

| Posted over 5 years ago I wish you well in your goals. We need good people on both sides of the radio console, so don't be in too big a hurry to go to the streets; you might be missed. Besides, if you leave you won't be able to tell people you "tell every cop in this town where to go." |
