1-30-10: We are well into our second year of PoliceLink and [this] year it will be 3 years. And, like all things new, we are plowing new landscapes and exploring new territory.

First: Congratulations to you if you have been able to accumulate stars to your profile. This is accomplished by collecting friends, commenting on people's Comment Wall, or posting mass amounts of repetitive stuff that allows the ticker to count points to more stars. For the most part it's more of a novelty than anything else. Some members have been able to get lots of points by posting repetitive stuff, photos, greetings or doing some cheap stuff like spelling out words in discussions with each letter representing a single post. Hey, if that's your deal, ... whatever.

Now for the tough part: Just because someone has stars and/or tenure on the site does not make that person a de facto boss, moderator or disciplinarian on the site. Additionally, it does not allow you more freedoms to get away with more stuff than a noob. "I've been here for ___ years and I deserve more respect yada-yada-yada."

Ok, this is my point. So you got stars and many many months or years on the site. Act professional. Don't try to toss your seniority weight around like you're deserving of some special treatment. And since stars and tenure are not LEO specific then this applies to everyone.

I am of the opinion that if you show in your profile lots of stars, activity or substance, then you should be exemplifying the very best of the law enforcement field. Even if you are a supporter, you still need to stand tall.

Warning: I have no problem with sanctioning a veteran member for violating the rules around here. So, don't think you're going to get any breaks from me OR my team of Moderators.

Now, that said, thanks. Most of y'all are great. Most of you show the best of LEO-Land. Most of you are great to talk to.
